Just an FYI, I'm going to be out of comission for at least a couple days.
I currently have both an Middle Ear, and Outer Ear infection, which is causing me extreme pain which even the prescribed pain meds aren't helping. My left ear is so swollen that they had to use an "ear wick" so that the drops get to where they need to go.
I'm on both an ear-drop antibiotic, and an oral antibiotic as well as Ear drop pain relief and oral pain meds.
The pain is extreme and I'm having issues focusing on anything for more than a couple seconds at a time, so it would be an extremely bad time for me to be tinkering with and trying to fix things.
Please bear with things for a few more days, and I promise I will get back to tinkering as soon as I start to feel better.

heat always helped me
I'd have unbelievable ear ache when I was little. My mom would wrap a towel around a twenty watt light bulb and lay me down with it next to my ear. Over the years I out grew the ear ache problem. until the past eight years. It has come back. Not with a vengeance because it could get any worse than it was before. Let's just say it's bad enough to stop me without doing something to stop it.
Heat is still the answer for me. I have many choices and all of them work. The wall furnace has a blower. Turning my head, holding my hair out of the way, I let that heat blow right at my ear until I can't stand it any longer. The ear ache is usually gone in ten minutes or so. Even if that side of my brain is fried it's worth it. Electric heaters with blowers are in abundance around the farm. We use them to keep the well houses from freezing up. I cop one now and then and use it the same way I do the wall heater. Hair dryer isn't my favorite for curing the ear ache. But desperate times call for desperate measures. It doesn't seem to get hot enough and it's also noisy. The old heating pad. Yet, if time isn't critical lay down with my ear on the pad and wait for the pain to finally go away. It isn't quick but neither was mom's light bulb. But they all worked.
I can NOT recommend vicks and a q tip because I don't know how careful you are. It works for me to make sure the earache doesn't come back. I slowly, carefully make sure I bottomed out in the ear canal as I rotate the vicks q tip around to coat the ear canal. Puncture an ear drum and there is NO fix. If one has lost feeling inside the ear, puncturing the drum is a high probability when probing with a q tip.
I must make a disclaimer to keep the FDA off my case.

I'll do everything I can to help you feel better. I hate seeing you in pain. I love you!
I hope you get better.
Ear problems can be the most painful types of experiences there are. Unlike hurting the body, which such pain you can mentally dissociate from, the ears are so close that it is hard do such mental dissociation.
If you are in that much pain, I am surprised you are able to type that post.
I hope you get better.
Take care
of yourself hun. Bee a 100% when you can we all love you and your work on this hunny of a site. Sorry wanted you to laugh at my bad puns. Feel better soon.
