Nothing wrong with 'celebrities,' but she's truly a hero to me.

I took a CMOS design class in

I took a CMOS design class in the early 80's in college from a book in her VLSI design series. It was the 2nd or 3rd book. It was written by some else with a forward from Lynn Conway. So it was exciting when one of the role models of my early life came out as transgendered.

A Reasonable Caution

Yes, Lynn Conway is a pathfinder in many ways. She and I have corresponded a few times, and no, I will not attempt to compare her intelligence with mine.

Her early childhood feelings are typical of many of us, including me. And she has trod the hazardous path from male to female with bravery.

What most readers can not know is the personal pain and loss along the way. It seems impossible to prepare oneself for the alienation from family and friends, of the loss of employment, religious connections, and most other things that you value.

Though the article did not say, I believe she is post op, to include some facial surgery. She is one of the very few to have a mate, and I hope that they enjoy each other to the fullest. It mostly does not happen to us, and the absence of another person to share my life with is the bitterest of disappointments.

She is 8 years older than I am, and I wish her the best. She should have all the joy that any human can have.
