Hi everyone!
So we have a date, and a place!
We've put a lot of work into trying to find an optimal venue for our gathering, and we've settled at a local (local to me) Chinese/Sushi/Hibachi Buffet.
Because of the fact that I live in a college town, full of hungry yet broke college kids, the buffet's offerings are varied and it's quite inexpensive. Ranging from Polish or Italian Sausages, Pot-roast, Mac and Cheese, or traditional Chinese/Sushi/Hibachi fare, chances are you will find something edible :).
So now for some details. We will be getting together on Saturday, November 1st. 2014 at about 1PM in the afternoon. We will be eating at the Peking Buffet ( http://www.pekingbuffetnj.com/ ) which is located inside the Collegetown Shopping Center at 753 Delsea Drive North in Glassboro, NJ 08028.
The Collegetown Shopping Center is located on the corners of Delsea Drive (NJ Route 47) and Donald Barger Blvd and is easily accessible via NJ Transit Routes 408 and 313 from Philadelphia. For those that might be traveling through Atlantic City, NJ you can take the 553 from the Atlantic City Transportation Center to Vineland, NJ and transfer to the 408 or 313.
We will be available to make limited trips to Philadelphia or Atlantic City (and immediately surrounding areas) to collect people, but those runs will be limited.
We are open to ideas for what can be done after our lunch-meet, and realize that things may be limited by size (a group of 8 will be a lot easier to figure out what to do than a group of 80) but the Peking Buffet is very used to large crowds from the local university so we feel it's a good place to get things situated.

We don't know how many people are going to show as of yet, but Myself, Cat and Erin will all be present, as well as my fiance Amy our wonderful Ninja Baby and Becky Reus.
So, come join us for a day of friends and fun, and hopefully we can make this a regular happening!

Another thought...
Holly Hart organized the first two of these BC gatherings up in Northern California, I think we should all take a moment to remember that and all the other sweet things Holly did for people while she was with us.

I'm not the most social of people. I'd probably end up offending someone. I tend to say what I think.

and can talk sis into us going! It would be nice to put living faces with some of the people I'm friends with here, so long as they aren't disappointed too much when they meet me.

It's only about four hours from the Albany area hon - add about five if we're in the Toronto area, but still doable.
We'll have to talk about the timing though. Work might be a little too busy for me to do it.

Wish I could be there
Biggest problem is that you're holding it on a Saturnday. My partner is Uber Religious and that is my 1st reason for not attending a get together that I'd love to be at. The second reason is that I don't think the trusty Batmobile would make the trip.
Maybe next time you could hold it someplace in Manhattan and I could take Pubic Transport.
Would love to come but.....
Not really sure about trying to travel there via public transportation form NYC, no car and not much money currently, and it has been an awful long time since I did the long range public transportation thing.
How casual is it? Right now having lost a lot of weight my current wardrobe is mainly jeans tees and running shoes, I walk/jog a lot as part of my health routine. I probably won't make it, maybe next year.

I would LOVE to be able
to make this get-together, but... I'm on the western end of N.Y. State and I don't "do" public transport, like trains/buses, etc. Additionally my car has reached the point at which it's more gallons per mile as opposed to miles to the gallon. Having met some of the folks here at The Southern Comfort Conference in 2009, Holly, Grover, Scotty, Khadijah, Sasha, I know that, for me, the biggest thrill of the conference was meeting them.
If by some miracle I can make it, I'll be there, but if not, know that I'm with you all in spirit. Have a great time and treasure this chance to meet face to face.

I'm thinking about coming. It would be cool to meet some of the people behind the web site. I live right in maryland. Problem is I don't socialize well..that's why I work night shift.
BC 2014 Eastern Meet Up
I would so like to be at the gathering but I cannot justify an 8 hour drive to attend lunch & then drive 8 hours back. Flying appears even worse as I could not find any direct flights, so, besides the cost, the actual flights times vary from about 6 hours to over nine plus the usual time to check in - do the security bit - wait for connections plus the need for an hotel room to be in Jersey for noon on the first.
I realize that the roads are fine - I was at a meeting in South Burlington VT last weekend but it was only 2.5 hours each way and the event ran from Friday PM to Sunday noon.
I wish you all fine weather - a good time and excellent food.
