What a series! What a team!
Wonderful!

I will assume
At the dangers that entails, that, for us non-euro types, you are referring to non-American futball or soccer maybe? Maybe even rugby?
Stacy,
never mind the wind up, it was rugby, the national religion of the Welsh. Shane Williams scored the first try, reaching speeds of 23MPH, a touch of magic.
And when Martyn Williams ran in the second Welsh try, the day was won! A religious experience if ever there was one.

And then my heart with pleasure fills
I splurged on ten bunches of daffodils yesterday, and by the final whistle today they had all opened - nothing short of miraculous, but then it's been that sort of day :)
I had a great day too.
Had a reasonably dry light wind 75 miles on the bike. The only thing that spoiled it was when I discovered the French let me down and let the leek-eaters win :)
Geoff (cowering in his English corner and covering his head)
Leek eaters!
They ate the frog eaters, the leeks were for dessert!
Glad you had a good ride. I only managed 28 miles in the wet and wind, one or two hills included.

Bah rosbifs
cost me £30 in the works' sweep by beating Ireland today :(
Best bit of the Wales match was when France were awarded an attacking scrum on our five metres, and the Welsh pack drove them off the ball. Superb!
Rugby
stacy,
the Welsh may attend chapel, but they worship rugby. Recent success, after twenty years of blight, has been greeted with more enthusiasm than evangelicals would give to the second coming.
Congratulations
Well done Wales. My only problem was that it started at 1 a.m. in my part of the world so I had to record it. Just don't crow TOO loudly, eh?
Joanne
Does this mean Richard Burton will rise from the grave?
Oh hell, gangs of drunken tenors roaming the countryside assaulting people with close harmony renditions of Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. The World is doomed!
Once I get around to it my own heroine alter ego Joanie will sing this song, the National Anthem of Wales as a duet with a famous and justly so female Welsh singer who's name is oddly similar to one of Ang's heroines -- its several chapters off yet, sorry. I love the Welsh choral tradition, but your spelling is nearly as incomprensible as mine.
Wait a minute, I thought I saw a blue police box at the last match. Did the Doctor intervene?

Personally,
I'd have her sing with Katherine Jenkins, much better voice although she doesn't live with Gavin Henson (Welsh rugby player), which might explain a lot.

Excuse The Profanity
I know you Welsh can be a sanctimonious lot, chapel and all. This morning I said congratulations. Now I've seen the game. Your lads were FUCKING BRILLIANT. Shouldn't single out one, but Martyn Johnson, Wow! Be Proud, and crow as loud as you like,
Your Enemy,
Joanne
If anyone in Wales is yet sober ...
... I would like to say .... No no whisper for there must be one massive collective hangover there .... Congratulations on the Grand Slam. I watched it with a Welshman who bore the name of Williams and was claiming all sorts of kinship.
Anyway it was a splendid match and victory. And you deserved it.
Perhaps not the moment to remind you that a certain Lancastrian did help with the odd scrap of advice from the Assistant coach's bench. :)
Hugs,
Fleurie
safe on Canaan's side
I grew up (debatable) in the Seventies when Wales winning rugby matches was utterly unremarkable, and more often than not expected. Then came the eighties, where the downturn in form was just another worry compared to the devastation caused by mine and steelwork closures. Then when it seemed things couldn't get worse, England actually got good :)
2005's Grand Slam was a blessed relief, but this year's has just been wonderful. It's been decades since a Welsh team played with that much authority and control; we've always had good players, but this current generation look like the real thing. A lot's owed to the coaching team - ironically it's taken a Kiwi to bring the best out of the Welsh, and Shaun Edwards, who's rumoured to be English, but we've changed his name to Sion, and they're not having him back :)
I don't often drink these days, and don't keep alcohol at home, but I remembered I had two bottles of Moet stashed under the stairs. Quietly content going to bed last night, and found that champagne goes well with kedgeree at breakfast. I've done nothing today but watch replays of the match... oh and if you wondering where the post's title comes from, it's the last line of Cwm Rhondda, a Methodist hymn that's unofficially Wales' second national anthem...
When I tread the verge of Jordan
Bid my anxious fears subside
Death of death, and Hell's destruction
Land me safe on Canaan's side.
