Traditional values
A coalition of bigots, apparently. They 'warn' that the bill would 'allow teachers to remain in post amid transition'.
What is their alternative proposal? Would it by any chance involve dismissal?

As usual, there is a lot left unsaid, and that particular little nugget would be interesting to pick apart. I suspect that there will be a load of whitewash about 'protecting children from confusion', 'think of the children', and 'lifestyle choice'. The usual drivel, in other words. The real intention appears to me to be the retention of the right to discriminate against us.
Here's an alternative suggestion to the TVC: educate the kids instead. Little Ahmed over there goes to a mosque, not a church. Little Diego over there doesn't speak English at home. Little Wan Lee doesn't have a daddy any more because sometimes people do bad things.
And Mister Williams is now becoming Ms Williams.
People aren't all the same.

An Truly Islamic state (such as what ISIS want) would see women become posessions of men. Any deviation from their hard line Islam would lead to you being stoned to death (That was the punishment in Mohammed's time so they use it now)
Then in India, it is more acceptable to be 'of the 3rd sex' than Gay.
I'm not saying the US is a bed of roses. It isn't. Many parts of it are very 'redneck' and very reluctant to embrace change like Lesbian & Gay. For them Trans is a step too far.
Just remember how far the US has come since the 1960's and the birth of the Civil rights movement.
Remember when that wonderful lady Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white male.
so we have come a long way and in time we will prevail, fear not.
Sadly sacking teachers who dare believe anything outside the norm proscribed by the School Board will become more frequent as people become less tolerant of anything strange.
If you Watch the original '4:10 to Yuma' you will realise that it says it all.
Just replace the one persecuted with a woman, moslem, jew, sikh, gay, lesbian or trans. Would the result be any different.
The words, "I have a dream" are so prophetic.
Can't compare against different countries
To do so would drive one insane imho. Problem here in the US is that we have to wipe out the religious flag waving about this issue and nip it back hard else we lose gains we are barely holding on to, at least that is how I see it. In a way that makes it even more important that we succeed as we can then set an example of how a civilized society should treat its trans-citizens. There is some momentum now in the US for trans rights, even for security clearances and the like as an example, and we in the US trans community would hate to lose it.
As for other countries, Iran is another weirdo place where being gay is worst then being trans and transitioning there is actively supported.
Security clearances
The US Army was informed by Chelsea Manning at an early stage of her employment that she had GID issues. Never the less, Chelsea was deployed to Iraq as an intelligence analyst.
I'm not all that familiar with the details, but it is my impression that being in the closet is a hindrance to security clearances. Being open about gender issues prevents the matter from becoming a possible vulnerability for blackmail.

As far as I know the oldest cry for freedom and dignity was the Passover (Exodus). There may be older victories. In this country it began with Common Sense and "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.-" and continued with, "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." My grandmother fought for women's right to vote and was a union organizer for the ILGWU. It is why we fought the Nazis. My father picketed the "lilly white" Yankees in the 1950's and supported the Jeweler's Union, despite owning a jewelry manufacture. My cousin was one of the "Mississippi Burning" victims. As a Jew in the 1950's and 60's, I was "not allowed" in one village near my home. It continues today with LBGTQ rights, even though Women rights and racial equality and other needs to protect against the "authority" are still trampled today.
Chief Justice Chase, commenting on the 14th amendment, said in the late 1800's that there comes a time when a group no longer has special needs and no longer needs protection. I pray that such an event will happen in my lifetime.
Question: Did my cousin die in vain?
Note: My grandmother, father and cousin were only three of the solders in the causes of freedom and dignity.
