My wife of 47 years is currently fighting a re-occurance of malignant melanoma, which has metastasized to her brain. In order to combat it the Drs are going to try Brain Surgery. Thru all the discussion etc. they frequently referred to the procedure as SRS surgery. When we got home, wanting to know more about it, she Google d SRS, and was very amused to find that the only references to that she could find were to Sexual Reassignment Surgery, which she does not think she is a candidate for. She finally found it on a medical reference web site as Stereotaxic Radio-graphic Surgery.

SRS?
Hi,
That's a terrible prognosis. I do hope that modern medicine is effective.
One thing we are told is that a person's attitude and mental disposition are important to any treatment. It sounds like she has the proper attitude to continue the fight.
Best of all things to you both. Our thoughts are with you.

Multiple uses...
Acronyms do tend to have multiple uses... At work, I see FSS regularly and have to remind myself it's not FFS... TO make maters worse, colleagues occasionally do the typo and type FFS instead of FSS...
So many acronyms have completely different meanings in different contexts... Take CBT. For me that is "Computer Based Training"... But my older daughter (working toward her advanced degree in psychology) it means "Cognitive Behavior Therapy"... LOL
Best wishes to you and your wife. There have been so many advances over the years, I hope her SRS is successful!

Not to mention that SRS also
Not to mention that SRS also means "simple random sample."
Yet another meaning...
I must admit to snickering at "CBT" whenever I see it as an acronym. It has a very different definition on adult sites of a certain bent. Seems to be popular, too, but it's not something to my personal tastes (and probably wouldn't be to most of the audience here, I'd imagine).
(Obvious warning: don't go searching for that one at the office or where public/young eyes might see. ;-) )
Cancer of the brain.
You must be shell-shocked and devastated to learn that it has entered the brain. I feel deeply for you and desperately hope that it is treatable.
I know how hopeless it can feel at this time.

Angharad I have been following your continuing story of "bike" from the very first posting, and still find it fantastic. Keep up the good work, for as long as you enjoy doing it, and I (and a lot of others ) will keep on reading it.
