Anybody who has had SRS probably had some form of bowel prep, back in the day it was "Go Lightly" a deception on the part of the marketing department! Tasted like whale snot too.
Here is a piece on bowel prep by Scottish comic Billy Connolly

Oh how well I know this piece. I am reminded to the blog I linked to a while ago about taking picolax.....
You have the same prep...
You have the same prep for Colonoscopies... (as he describes) I'd not thought about (intentionally, mind you) the fact that you'd need to do a similar prep for GCS...
I've had three colonoscopies now... The first two, there was something called "Fleet" or some such. About 4 oz of clear, fizzy liquid. No problem to get down. But, once you get the urge, well let's say that you and a certain piece of porcelain containing water with a flush apparatus get to know each other far better than you'd like, for a lot longer than you'd like... Then, a few years ago, I got my third one... And, I was assured it was easier. This "Go-Lightly" stuff was much easier on the system... Yeah, who're they fooling. I almost lost my meal trying to drink the 8 oz glasses every 10 minutes... A gallon to get through... AWFUL!!! The first one or two are bearable, they just got progressively worse.
They've changed things, yet again. Apparently a few docs had to get colonoscopies too, and they didn't like the prep any more than their patients... That, or someone held some guns to the docs heads until they came up with another approach. In any event, the prep starts about a week before the "event" now... Miralax - once a day. Then on the last day, you have to get down about 16 oz of a much easier to take prep... That or two "triple" doses of Miralax. The end result is closer to what the comedian described (several trips, rather than one long sustained one)...
The "link" is MUCH more interesting than this, of course.

I was given a Barium…
enema about 10 years ago so they could check me for colonic cancer. Having vast quantities of the grey sludge pumped into my fundamental orifice was decidedly uncomfortable and I did the rubber-aproned doctor who was administering it that I was on the verge of a fart; he replied saying something about killing me if I did. After all the X-rays had been taken I sat on the loo for at least half an hour spluttering and splattering the revolting stuff all round the loo pan. Not nice.
At least the X-rays showed no signs of cancer down there, thank goodness.

Tasted that good eh?
Couldn't get past 10 glasses of 'Go Lightly'. I would've puked otherwise, seriously if they require go lightly I will just take my chances. Colon cancer - any kind of cancer really, doesn't seem to run in my family tree so *bleah*.

Poem
I do believe Dylan Thomas wrote one about this....
What I want to know is...
Who is the wicked person who named that product? Someone has a really bad sense of humor.
By the way, my wife (a nurse) tells me that the 'litely' part is due to the electrolytes that are in the product. I guess it's supposed to deplete your electrolytes less than an ordinary case of diarrhea.
