How would you describe BigCloset? The reason I'm asking is that in my story (Summer Girl) a group of kids are discussing Big Closet. I call it a site for info on TG and a TG story site... do you agree??

TG writing...

It is all about the stories, the rest is icing on the cake. There are lots of other sites (such as Laura's Playground) that is strictly support and information.

As with any site that has people who are fundamentally laymen some of the information is suspect, but most of us going through the process of transitioning do our research. Even then, we get things wrong, just a lower percentage.

A Wardrobe !

A virtual wardrobe full of transgender stories to try on and sample with the virtual mirror of the mind to see how they look.

I agree, it is stories and info and possibilities and what ifs, a sounding board and much more, but mostly the stories which are still more then stories, they idea points of view, what might be, it is just terffical. *stops babbling & grins*

I think I got bit carried away!

Interesting question...

On the one hand, we're a TG fiction site.

But that alone isn't anywhere near descriptive enough. For example, Fictionmania's a TG fiction site, and I think most here will agree the bulk of stories posted there have a very different emphasis to here.

You won't find much in the way of erotica or forced fem here: there were a couple of authors who regularly engaged in such a few years back (albeit in many cases, their stories had previously been published and were brought forward again as Retro Classics), while "Only a Baby Machine" was possibly one of the most controversial stories posted in a while (to the extent that someone wrote an unofficial epilogue with a distinctly more upbeat mood than the main story!)

Perhaps a large part of the reason is that the vast majority of authors on the site are TG themselves, while many of the rest have personally known someone who is. I think those who hadn't encountered any before stumbling upon this site are a relative minority. It's probably for that reason that many stories (regardless of gender) have a journey of self discovery at their heart and there are relatively few with instant acceptance.

But while TG fiction is the reason for the site's existence, that ignores the blogs: a mixture of sharing life events, requests for moral support (for a variety of reasons), general health updates (either the blogger's own or a member of the community they know), temporary absence notifications, writing help / advice / support, LGBT-related news (both politics, media and entertainment), birthday / BCTS anniversary / cultural and religious festival greetings, plus the occasional blogpost that's "None of the above".

We've had many discussions about the dangers of pigeonholing gender / sexuality - I think trying to pigeonhole this site as one fixed category is problematic too :)

As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

Thank You..

Thank You!! The reason why I'm asking is because of my stories. As you remember, one of William and Kyle's (the brother of Sawyer, the main character of the story) friends at the sleepover would like to see Big Closet. William and Kyle talked about the stories on here (from real members -- Stanman, K.T. Leone Dauphin to a few fictional members (writing fictional B C Fiction).)

Chapter 4 should be up this week...
