I'm looking for a story. It was a noir type story, with a detective trying to solve the case of his own murder but the "murder" actually meant he would become a girl with no memories of who she used to be....

It's about a guy who is in limbo for years, Oroborous gives him a deal to live again, as a girl and she starts looking for things from her previous life. Not solving a mystery, but close.

Noir story
The description reminds me of Scott Ramsey's "DOA."
It would probably be said to be inspired by the old Edmund O'Brian movie of the same name or it's sequel.
I liked the story. It is imaginative in it's use of speculative future technology to apply the plot to a TG theme. It caught the flavor or the original well. It is very easy to get caught up in the story. (like most of Scott's stories)
It is, of course, a bit bittersweet like the movie.

Scott was once working on a follow-up story but I am not sure if he has made any progess on it.
