In a recent blog you mentioned re-reading an older story. That reminded me of what a marvelous repository of excellent fiction we have here at Big Closet. Erin and the other Admins. are to be thanked for what they have provided here.

I often read stories that are many years on the site. But, you know, they're all new when you read them for the first time. I like to thank the author by signing in and giving a Kudos for each chapter: It takes little time and effort and gives them a thank you for their work.

If I really enjoy something I comment on each and every chapter. I feel like I owe them that. I'm sure some think I'm long winded but I feel it's the polite thing to do. after all writing well is hard work and I want them to know how much I appreciate it.

That's just me, and not every one can be expected to follow suit, but every once in awhile leave a a thoughtful comment. I suspect the authors enjoy it, especially on older stories...

I love it when I get comments on old stories. and I'm glad if my blog helps bring some old stories new readers

Commenting is always good.

I love it when someone comments on an older story because it allows the BigCloset Retro Classic Commentary button to work. If someone leaves a comment on a 'retro' story it brings it to the top of that section. That allows me the opportunity to see it and read, and hopefully enjoy, a story I otherwise might never have found. I've discovered quite a few awesome stories that way.

The downside, of course, is if someone leaves a comment on every chapter of a very long series, then that page is nothing but a thousand listings for one story. Alas, every system has its flaws.

I always leave a comment on a story I've finished reading and enjoyed. I don't really see the point of leaving a comment on every single chapter I've read, what's the point in speculating on something you're about to read right away? To each their own, though.
