Jumping the Shark in sequels

I revisited a couple of my stories the last couple of days, Switching Playing Fields and On the Flip Side.

Of the stories I've written, Switching Playing Fields (along with Max and Alex) is probably my favorite and (minus the typos and minor mental mistakes I'm still discovering) and best written. I love Flip Side, too, don't get me wrong. But I felt like I betrayed the charm of the original story when I inserted TG feelings into Lucas' character, rather than a boy comfortable in his own skin to find out he actually enjoyed walking in his female friends shoes.

I know it's been a while (most of you might have forgotten the characters), and I have limited time, but I am considering a sequel and exploring his romantic relationship with Beth, who relishes being the "boy" in their relationship, and with his sisterly bond with his BFF and mentor, Gina.

Just a thought, I guess. Feedback from those of you who followed the stories quite a while ago would be appreciated.
