What I would like to know is how you would like my next story posted? As usual It will be long so I'd like to know if you would like it done in chunks like Twins, around twenty thousand words per posting, or by the chapter once a day. I've had complaints either way, the post was too long, or I'd like to see a chapter every day but short. I'll leave it up to you because I haven't broken the story into chapters yet and will do that during the first edit. I won't start posting for some time because the story is just getting started and it's over thirteen thousand words long already. The good thing is that it's rolling along easily but I won't post until the story is completed so it might be months from now before the first words are seen on BC. Please let me know how you would like to read the story, small pieces or large chunks, you know kind of like peanut butter, smooth or chunky, Arecee

Not so big
If it was an entire self-contained story, I would think that twenty thousand words would be acceptable.
However, if your story is going to be longer than that, or you intend chopping it up anyway, then something smaller is going to be more easily digestible. I would suggest no more than ten to twelve thousand a post.
Reasons?
* If the files are smaller it becomes more manageable for the author. Finding typos in a 20,000 word file is a lot harder than finding them in a 6,000 word one.
* The reader may not be on superfast fiber broadband, so downloading that page may take forever. She'll go elsewhere.
* If you're reading while sitting in front of a desktop then for the average speed reader you'll be fixed in one position a long time.
* Smaller files means more of them. That means that, potentially, you can post more frequently, which means that the reader has less delays between each post.
* More posts means more opportunities for kudos ;)

It depends
If I have a lot of things I want to read then smaller chunks is better so I can read more stories. However long chunks are wonderful if the story is wonderful and I can just get sucked into it.
I was fine with how Assassin and Twins were posted. Only difference for me is when I get around to actually reading them could be a week or month later.
My general feeling is whatever works best for YOU as the author, works for me.

A long story
should be posted in chapter form, or if in one posting, divided into chapters so a reader can more easily stop if neeeded and keep thier place marked.

Chapter and Title page
I would prefer to have it by chapter.
I you make a title page, once it's complete the ones that like the big chunk can use the printer friendly link on it and read it in one go.
Waiting to reading another of your story.
