"All" never deserve anything. I could mention several nations and wars where soldiers and officers, some for the sake of "greater good", some "to restore the democracy", some because "that were the orders", committed terrible crimes against general population or against POWs.
And I can point you to several facts where righteous ones were fed total B.S. and still mindlessly gone into foreighn land to kill, rape and pillage...
I say it not to start discussion. Not to shame anyone. Just to mention, that you should use your own head and spread prise using your own judjement.
