Hi everyone.
I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this site but there was an article in the Melbourne Australia 'Sunday Herald Sun' today about a 9 year old transgendered child. Her mother is very supportive thank goodness, but the school seems to be having some difficulties dealing with it, including making her use the disabled toilet. From what it said in the article there are a number of transgendered children in Australia (and I'm sure all other countries). Thank goodness something can be done for them nowadays. That certainly wouldn't have been the case when I was a child.

If her biggest problem with the school is that her daughter has to use the "disabled" toilet, then she should be counting her blessings.

Why wouldn't it be, seems right on topic to me.
I'm glad she is generally finding acceptance. That's how it should be.
As for the school. ... Its possible they may actually welcome a court order, that blocks any possible complaints coming the other way, which might be all they were worried about (hopefuly).
We do this for a reason.
I was easily identified as PAIS, so I know there is a cause. And don't let them tell you that XY women are unable to have children. I think that not far in the future, all transgenderisim with have their causes identified. Hopefully in our generation this will happen.

The Veil Of Ignorance Is Thickly Layered
One of the problems is that many people are still poorly informed about tg issues, including those in positions of authority. This isn't entirely their fault; until fairly recently even left-leaning newspapers like the UK Guardian seemed reluctant to raise them.
As a straight, non-tg guy more interested in the fiction than the lifestyle (a reprehensible term, but I can't think of a more appropriate one at the moment), I'd always assumed that the urge to begin transition didn't manifest itself until puberty. That was because all trans people were gay, wasn't it?
I now know that a person's chosen gender has nothing whatsoever to do with their sexual preferences. But that's only because I did some research on a story I wanted to post. If I hadn't bothered, I'd have remained as ignorant as the vast majority of the public.
Clearly there are matters to be resolved here. The question of whether or not it makes a difference whether pre-pubescent children perceive themselves as male or female is just one of them.
In the meantime, I'll suggest a mad idea. Why don't we devise toilet facilities anyone can use? I mean, we've sent astronauts to the moon...
As long as her classmates and
the faculty support her, there should be little, if any need for government intervention.
