In China the number 8 has a lot of significance for good luck and prosperity. Hence a lot of people were married on 8/8th month.Their Olympic games stated at 8pm on 8th of the 8th.
I was watching my total kudos accumulate and as the total approached 8888 I was nervously waiting thinking it would co-incide with something associated with wealth. Naturally I assumed that I'd be in the prize money for the Valentines competition or that I might win the UK National Lottery. I hadn't bought a ticket for the latter so that reduced the chances. Then I found I'd posted 4 entries for the competition and let out a big ArGGGGGHHHH. 4 is an unlucky number in China. So no lottery win and no prize to be expected.
Then I looked at how to withdraw one of my stories. But then maybe I should write another 4. But 8 stories wasn't fair and in any case they might be considered 2 batches of four.
When the competition ended I noticed how many views were occurring on a new story I posted called 'Walking in Beckys Shoes.' It was unbelieveable and the kudos kept coming.
Then I passed 8888 and everything returned to normal. So here I am back again no richer and no wiser as to what turns on readers and what switches them off.
I'll have to make the next story I post 888 words long and who knows I might score 88 kudos.
Maybe I'll do 8 chapters or put in 8 entries for tomorrows lottery.
It is Red Nose Day in UK for charity so if I get 8 comments I'll donate GBP88 to the charity. Now that we'll make me feel better and I'll settle down to enjoy all the fun of the evening ahead.
