I've been putting this off for a few days now, simply because I didn't know how to say it.

Well, here it is.

We're moving.

Yes, I know I've been saying it for ages and nothing's happened, but now it has and we are - end of April.

Firstly, the insurance palaver has been brought to a close and I'm disappointed by what transpired. Basically, things are going to be tight and there's no way I can afford to support the planned website, but hey, maybe later eh?

Nevertheless, we're still going for the adventure, upping sticks and fleeing Britain for the Gallic charm of Orne and our French house. The removals company has been booked, Pen's handed in her notice at work and we're slowly working our way through a long list of things to do, people to inform etc, etc.

We're both filled with a mixture of excitement and near-petrifying fear as after such a long time in the planning phase, it seems to be happening all of a sudden. I'm sure many of you have been there in one way or another.

So there will definitely be a period of quiet from me (take it while you can) as we won't be getting the comms set up until after we've moved, although we will get ADSL together and I will be coming back - hopefully with some new stories - perhaps even some with a little Gallic feel, who knows.

So that's it. Last week of April, everything will go quiet and I have no idea when I'll be netted up again.

I'm alternating between feelings of intense excitement and having to sit down, take a deep breath and put my trust in fate. Encore une fois.

Well that's it. Now you know.

Nick

PS

Pen and I are getting married on the fifteenth of March, just to add to the spice ...

Congratulations

On everything, well, except for the part about not being able to put together your website.

Bon chance!

Hugs,
Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Thanks, Erin

I tried to find ways of being able to do it, but the money just isn't going to stretch. To earmark what would be quite a large sum of money on a chance; an untested idea when we need so much doing to the house, would be irresponsible.

I am sad not to be able to give it a go though.

Bon chance!

...happy for you!

Thank you, Drea

I'm happy for us too, but at the same time, as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs

Even worse than that,

being any kind of cat in the same room as someone expressing curiosity in something...

Good for you!

Congratulations on the move and impending nuptials! I hope Brutus wasn't invited to the wedding.

Thanks, Jennifer

No, Brutus is not invited to the wedding.

By the way ... who's Brutus?

Et Tu Brute

Brutus was Julius Caesar's best friend, who (along with eleven other guys) stabbed him to death on the fifteenth of March.

Oh, Brutus ... right!

I knew that. I just didn't know the date was significant. I'll have to be careful when it comes to the ceremony, won't I?

I wish you

every happiness for your forthcoming marriage and in your new home.

I hope the removal goes smoothly.

Hugs,

Ang.

Angharad

I wish us that too, Ang

It's scary in an exciting way and as they say, holidaying there is one thing, living is quite another.

I guess we're going to find out whether that's a good or bad thing aren't we?

best of luck!

I hope all goes as well as it possibly can. Loads of luck!

And congratulations!

Hugs,

Kaleigh

Thank you, Kaleigh

We have the declaration of intent to marry today at 09:30, so by the time you read this, we'll be half way there. Then we have the ceremony on the 15th March followed by a two week stay in our house in Normandy, which we had already booked before we knew we'd be moving for definite.

Then it's back at the end of March, leaving us April to get everything sorted before the move.

Jeez, life can get hectic at times, can't it?

Moving to France AND getting married, Nick?

What did you do to deserve such cruel and unusual punishment? PLEASE don't tell me they have an annual Jerry Lewis film festival? That would be akin to be hung by the neck in an electric chair while inside the gas chamber.

Could be worse I suppose. Could be Cudahy. Or... Butler.

Nick, congrads on FINALLY getting that house in France.

Hope your muse survives the transplantation and marriage.

Your stories are among my favorites.

P.S with all those books about people moving from England or the US to Provence are ANY of your neighbors even vaguely French?

John in Wauwatosa

French neighbours, John in W?

Actually, many of the people who live near us are English and we don't like them at all.

They're the sort of people who feel it's 'Johnny Foreigner's' job to learn English and communicate via that tried and failed method of shouting loudly and waving their arms around. They're an embarrassment and we want nothing to do with them - except for them to buy our cakes and chocolates!

I'm not going and disappearing altogether. I will be back and I will be writing, just with a little Gallic flair thrown in.

Watch this space ...

Remember to brush, floss and use mouth wash often

garlic breath can be bad.

Oh Gallic!

Never mind.

John in Wauwatosa where we use a garlic press. And it's damned tricky printing clean copy on that machine.

P.P.S. Did I just type THAT? Need more coffee.

John in Wauwatosa

Garlic Press?

What a fantastic name for a publishing company!

I'll have to remember that!

Thanks, John
