When I started posting the Taylor Project back in January I was at 63k words. I've already posted 54k and I expect I'll catch up to my starting point in about two posts. However, since then I've kept writing and manuscript just kept on growing. It's up to 104k words now and still growing. I finally have the final chapters outlined, so now there is an end in sight. I've abandonded several novels. I can get to A, B, C but usually lose my way around E, F, G. This time I'm all the way Q, R, S and I can see the steps needed to get to the end. I fully plan to see this story all the way through to the end.

More than twice as much work still to do? Oh, my... what have I gotten myself into, in volunteering to edit this story?
LOL. Just kidding. It has been fun working with Tracey, and I am enjoying every minute of it. My reason for this public comment was simply to let the rest of the readers know the following:
Although Tracey has not been using the "Real World" tag on her story headers, this is very much a real world story. The "Chemical Induced Change" in this particular tale is not some casually employed, poorly thought out "hand wave" or "applied phlebotium" science fiction/fantasy plot element -- this is hard science.
Tracey already had a good story idea for how to cause something like this in reality... but then she posted a request for a medical professional who was willing to help her out. I have been assisting her since then, and I can state that the medical events portrayed in this story are as real, and as accurate, as I am capable of making them. Smile. And yes, I actually am a medical professional in the real world -- I do not just play one in fiction. LOL.
For those that may think that they already know what is going on... smile. In the real world, disasters (medical or otherwise) rarely have a single cause. It usually takes a "perfect storm" of many little things factoring together to make a real mess of things... a complex chain of events, with individually unimportant errors building on uncommon occurrences, combining together to result in something that no single event would have created. I have been working with Tracey since Part 5, explaining side effects, drug interactions, relevant hormone and enzyme reactions, the role of personal genetics and environmental factors, body growth and development statistics, applicable medical Standards of Care and details of probable medical procedures, et cetera.
Which is to say... what is happening to Taylor is complex, but is as medically accurate as I can help her make it.
So what, exactly, is happening to Taylor? Grin. Sit back and enjoy the ride -- Tracey will no doubt slowly reveal those elements when the time is right. I think it will be interesting... and well worth the wait. The medical mystery is really only a sub-plot within the story, after all. Most of this tale is about Taylor... and her internal voyage of self-discovery...
Which is why I am both an editor of this story, and also an avid reader. I may already know the medical side of things, but even I have not a clue where Tracey is taking Taylor as a person...

And I owe you another thank you. I've been thinking about posting something to my readers to reassure them that the medical mystery that is one of my big subplots isn't a joke. I just couldn't figure out how to word it without dropping spoilers. You're wording is perfect.
And everyone else owes you thanks as well, because the quality of my work has certainly gone up with your medical advice and editing.
The End Is the Hardest
I think the end is the hardest part to write. You have to somehow wrap up a story that you've involved yourself deeply in, and now have readers well attached to it. Glad to hear that you've written almost all of it in advance! I look forward to continuing to read this story. I think it is an interesting concept, and I suspect once you have a few more details come to light it should make for a different story than normal on here. Good luck with finishing!
Getting to the end
It's gettign to the end that has been hardest for me. I often do know roughly how I want the story to end. That's true of the Taylor Project, but getting all the little pieces to come together to get to that end has always been my failing. I get into the middle and it gets complicated and everything goes every which way. I do see the end of this one and I'm working to get there.
Well written very enjoyable to read
This has been VERY ENJOYABLE story that from the beginning had a sincerity and a technician honesty about it that has been very refreshing. The story foundation is one of the standard templates here on B.C. but it is refreshing to see it handled so well. The characters are very real and convincing.
Looking forward to seeing where this is going and how it is going get there.
