Brown University students now covered by Insurance by the University for sex reassignmen surgery costs. Students only, not staff according to the article.

Might be that if someone takes time to have the surgery it would mean that person would not be a student anymore and therefore NOT covered by the insurance???
On the other hand would they accept a student who was READY for surgery into the school KNOWING that the insurance would be tapped AND/OR would someone be a student there long enough to qualify for and go through all the procedures needed?

Each Uni...
Each university that's added such benefits (That I'm aware of, UPenn, Harvard, Cornell and now Brown) have done it a little different. If I understood correctly, Brown and Cornell made the benefit only for students. Harvard had it for Students and faculty, and UPenn (first to provide the benefit) made it available for Students, faculty, Staff and dependants...
As more companies and schools provide benefits, we can hope that they become more commonplace throughout most of the country. (Hope being the important term.)
