Bike Wiki

If you've been following Angharad's Magnum opus you may be aware that a few years ago I had the daft idea to compile a spreadsheet summarising every EAFOAB episode... which gradually grew to include lots of additional information such as character lists, memorable quotes and the occasional humorous episode number. My grateful thanks go to PS, who helped with about half of the summaries from 1 to 1000.

However, as time went on, I found the spreadsheet format increasingly unweildy. So, after starting Wikis for the Comics Retcon Universe and the DarkRealms Universe, I had the brainwave of converting the spreadsheet into wiki form.

Several months later, and information for episodes 1 - 1286 plus 1900 - 1937 are now present, together with the character lists from the spreadsheet.

Feel free to roam around and take a look - navigation should be self-explanatory.

The main task remaining (other than updating it with each new episode published) is to fill in the gap from 1287 to 1899. If you want to tackle character lists, write a mini bio for a character, or even contribute something useful I haven't thought of - go ahead! Oh, and if you've been re-reading an old episode and can add a bit more to the summary / add a quote - again, feel free!

If you fancy having a go, the easiest way to record is via a plain old text file. The structure for each episode is as follows:

{{events
|episode=
|part=
|date=
|title=The Daily Dormouse (aka Bike)
|subtitle=
|words=
|significant=
|quotes=
|events=
}}

Sorry there's no WYSIWIG view - it's all template driven to achieve a consistent look. Personally, I think that while the templates initially look confusing, they're well structured so it may be harder to get lost within a page. To create a new episode, copy the block above and add the relevant information after the = sign. The main bits to fill in are Episode - the episode number (e.g. 1234); Date - publication date; Words - word count from the bottom of the page; and Events - the summary itself. Either look at existing pages to see how to top and tail the page or ask me :)

The optional bits are Part - if Ang's supplied a description of the episode number (e.g. "Two dozen!"); Subtitle - generally anything else unusual / interesting that appears in the title block or before the main text; Significant - something significant within the universe, e.g. births / family member debuts / marriages / deaths; Quotes - any particularly memorable quote from the episode.
