As for me, All I can say is that I was very fortunate
to find such an amazing group of people here. I don't
write very well; but even so, I have always received
universal encouragement from the patrons of this site.
One of the reasons I did not post for such a long
time, was because I didn't like what the pursuit of
commentary, and comment envy did to me; as well as,
the very realistic and justifiable fear of exposing
my meager efforts to comparison with the torrent of
brilliantly written stories this site has to offer.
In fact, I only published my first story here, because
I was very curious as to whether or not my stories might
actually hold any redeeming value… Well, that, and the
fact that Angel practically threw me into a wheelbarrow of
encouraging praise, and rolled me into the site before
dumping me off!
Erin once said to me that she, like me, was amazed at the
number of very talented and erudite souls who inhabit this
venue. It was only when I realized how very much I agreed
with her, in my respect for their talents and opinions, that
I understood how much I agreed. In the end, I believe that
it is more those magnificent and manifest talents, which lead
me to prize any comments so highly. At least, I hope so,
since the alternative is that I really do need the attention…

I'm Addicted Too
I check my hits nearly every day. Even though I haven't posted for a long time it still gives me great pleasure to see one or two people taking an interest, even if all they have actually done is click on and then say "Ugh!" and click off.

Yup. I'm new to the whole posting thing, having been a lurker for ages, but I'm so glad I've started participating.
With the first two stories I've posted here I checked that hit counter repeatedly to see if anyone was reading it and I was constantly looking to see if there were any comments. The second story had a second hit within a minute or so of posting which amazed me. So fast, so fast. I figured the first hit was my own when the program brought it up after submission.
Here's what I don't understand yet though.
Hopefully someone will know and provide answers...

BC genres, etc.
No, there's no page defining all of the genres, themes and elements because this way, each author can use them as their own. I've seen systems of descriptions and tags that get fiercely definitive about usage and I'm just not gonna be the cop on the beat for such a thing. My style of autocracy is benign chaos. :)

Hits are cool
I like the hit counter but then I also like votes.The more votes you get the more likely it seems you'll get shown in the daily voting which in turn tells people your storys worth reading.If your story gets moved down by postings, being shown in the daily voting I think helps increase your chances for more hits.Also comments are nice.Amy M
