This is good news, Shalimar
If more cities & states had LGBT Senior Housing, it would be a big help.
May Your Light Forever Shine
Mixed feelings....
...affordable social network and medical/health care for LGBT seniors. But the downside is one more distinction made when inclusion and acceptance would be better in the long run? Sad but necessary at least for the time being, I suppose.

Disability groups have made...
...the same argument when attempts have been made to provide them with their own apartment buildings or communities, calling it segregation. I can see their point, but given the choice between occupying segregated housing that caters to my needs, and integrated housing that doesn't, I'll opt for the former.
It's not fair, it's not right. But even now, if an LGBT individual moves into a nursing home dominated by those who are not, there are going to be residents who won't like it, particularly if that person is trans. I fear that I might have difficulty finding a place that will take me should I ever require a nursing home rather than the assisted-living situation I'm in now. No woman would want to room with me if I'm still pre-op, and I wouldn't be able to afford a room of my own.
Where I live now, in a disabled/senior apartment complex, there are only a tiny minority who disapprove of me, true. But why should I have to endure even that tiny minority? Why should I have to put up with their glares and the catty, outrageous rumors they spread? I'd be applying at this place in San Francisco tomorrow were I able to do so.

How about Minnesota
Here is a comment I clipped from FB about a long planned project in Minneapolis from Barbra S.:
"Now I can say with great enthusiasm: We are underway. This is a shot from the site of Spirit on Lake, our LGBT senior focused housing project at 13th and Lake. Stay tuned as we prepare for a formal ground breaking (hopefully in December). I will let you know when that will happen and when our new web site is ready. Hoooooray!!!!"

Not a bad idea....
...since I think there are insurance plans in the state of Minnesota that pay for SRS as well. I'm not very enthusiastic, though, about moving someplace that has a climate even worse than here.
