I was away on holiday sans computer for a little over a week and so many things have happened on BC while I was out of touch. You are a busy lot!
First to Erin, my condolences. I don't know how you have been able to juggle everything with your mother's travails. There is nothing I can add to what others have said but please accept a sympathetic hug. You do a wonderful job on this wonderful site. Just give your own life a little priority at this sad time.
The reason I was unable to access BC was that I decided not to take my laptop on holiday, thinking I could use internet cafes and public terminals to keep in touch.Silly old moo that I am I did not realise that BC is classified as PORN and access was denied by a blocker called Barracuda in Australia. Even worse, the Aussie government is proposing to introduce compulsory filters to prevent kids from accessing "undesirable content". Whatever happened to parental responsibility? Censorship never works anyway, so I hope this crazy idea gets dropped in short order.
Anyway (relieved sigh) I can get BC again now I am home. I really did have withdrawal symptoms. It's going to take me ages to catch up, so many beaut stories and many of my favourite authors have posted while I was away. I'm going to enjoy myself!
Oh, and I made a New Yeer's resolution to try to be better at posting comment on the stories I read. I really will try. Really.
I wish all of you a great 2008,
Joanne

There's none of that here

BC is not porn, though there is some erotica here. If someone wants to block BC for adult content, well, our own home page at BigClosetR.US suggests that. But blocking the site for porn is wrong headed. Jeez! Have they seen the real porn out there? :)

Welcome back and thanks.

Hugs,
Erin

is I think the problem. Libraries and the like block to prevent kids looking at adult content. A friend in the States I was chatting with last year had the same problem. As for the filter, it's political posturing aimed at kiddie porn and the like. Nice idea in a way, but is it workable or realistic and then who do you trust to start messing in that sort of area before someone lobbies for this or that to be banned. Rampant conservatism to woo votes...sigh.

Oh, almost forgot, welcome back Joanne

Censorship and erotica

I think it's mistaking prudishness for morality. And ignorance for bliss.
Welcome back
