I have left Growing Up Jenny on the site in order to get some reviews on Amazon. I know that you had to have at least made one purchase on the site to leave a review. But, if you already got that far and already read the book on this site (or if you haven't, why not do it now, it's going to be removed Jan. 1st) why not leave a review. of peoples views or the fact that you've now hidden your works from a huge swathe of potential buyers. Think i've sold about a dozen ebooks via Amazon in the last year!

I don't think I've hidden much of anything. I really don't see why someone would pay for something that they could simply read whenever they wanted to for free. I removed one story from the site and it had been up for 2 or 3 years and I am giving people the chance to read my other novel for free for a limited time. I think that is quite generous of me. In fact, I am writing another novel and though it will be for sale, I still intend to post it, in its entirety, on the site.
I have goals, and those goals are to be a professional writer. I can't be a professional if all I do is linger around websites that offer free stories. The novels I write and sell (which won't be every story) are long, in depth, high quality works that take a lot of work and in which I feel I deserve some compensation. Since they are not the fluff pieces that are often pined for on the site, I don't think I am detracting in any way. I will continue to write short pieces and place them here, though I feel I am using the site so I have an outlet for my writing exercises, I don't see any reason not to turn a profit.
God Bless the Child, the novel I removed, is a story that is deserving of profit, as is Finding Jenny. If people have an issue of supporting me by purchasing my works for pay, that is up to them. I will not deny them of my "lesser" works. But one day, and I believe and strive for this, someone will discover my works and my career as an author can truly begin.

...I was reading, explained how to up the presence of your ebooks on Amazon and reach greater public awareness and viewings to buy through different sites on the web to visit and promote it on and doing things with the hypertexting for google. I suggest asking Tanya Allan what she does to promote her ebooks as well. I nudged her in that direction and she took off like a rocket and thoroughly enjoys her craft :)
You can also google "How to promote and publish ebooks" or "Self publishing and promoting ebooks" and research the ins and outs of it there as well.
