OT: Movie review. The Avengers.

Well, at long last, the movie I have been waiting for since I heard it was going to BE a movie, came out for rental today. The Avengers! I have to say, in all honesty, that it not only lived up to it's hype, but surpassed even my high expectations. To see, on the screen, the heroes I grew up reading about in the "comic books" and witness the incredible effects and acting displayed by the cast, just blew me away.

This is one I will buy for my personal collection. The action, the HUMOR, the whole thing, was done perfectly for me. I look forward to the sequel, even though it will probably be a couple of years before it hits the theaters. Oh there WILL be a sequel! The very last shot in the movie was of Thanatos, the power behind Loki in this movie. I think the only thing that disappointed me was the lack of real power shown by Loki. He was the master of trickery and he used magic to cause havoc. None of his "real" forte was shown in this movie, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the movie as a whole too much.

I've always been critical of people who criticize a movie, claiming to be purists and bitching about how the movie wasn't true to the book/comic book/whatever. I enjoy a movie for what it IS, not for what I think it SHOULD have been.

If you love superheroes, if you love action, if you just love the genre itself, either go see this movie, or rent it, or buy it. I give it 4 3/4 stars out of five.
