Old Friends

Wendy Jean's picture

I am 55, and have had many furry friends. It never gets easier when their time comes, but I keep adopting new pets. It is worth it.

All I can say, is when it is my time, I am likely to be swarmed with greetings. I firmly believe Love doesn't die.

Meanwhile, I have an adopted stray and a fat lump who consider me a close friend. It is nice to have family.

My kid is OK too.

I am truly sorry for your loss.

She may be gone from this plane

ShadowFax may have parted company on this realm, however she awaits you on the next plain. Yes its hard to see your friends and family pass before you but Love is never truly gone. Her memories will live on with you until you meet again.

Blessed be sister.

The answers to all of life's questions can be found in the face of a true friend

Poor kitty

It must have hurt to let her go.

Give it some time but you may wish to get another cat. The rescue shelters and Humane Societies have so many of them. The alternative that happens at the ones that don't have a no kill policy is terrible to contimplate.

Depending on your means and situation you may want two cats as they often do better when they have another cat in the household.

Or spend some time volunteering at a shelter. Either way would be an appropriate way to pay tribute to your lost friend.

I've cried more for our cats than I ever cried for a human. That probably says something about how screwed up I am.

The misanthropic one,

Portia

Pain

Portia there is never anything screwed up about someone who cries for a life lost no matter they're human or not. That's compassion. My closest friends might have four legs instead of two, but I miss them oh so much.

It takes a big heart to love and to lose, and then do it again. However, there are so many little ones out there that needs the care.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We love our furry friends so much, and miss them so when they're gone. I still cry from time to time when I recall the loss of cats I've had as companions over the years. But there are many more happy memories to offset the sadness.

I have had to say GOODBYE to several pets over my life time. Each was special.

She was one very regal looking lady!

My cat lived to be 17 years old... still it hurt and still hurts.
You need to get another one. Or at least start looking for another cat.

Sorry to hear your sad news

You experienced immortal's dilemma...

...as for cats and dogs we are immortal. We are not aging significantly in their lifetime. And it's more difficult for cats and dogs when you die on them, as they rightfully expect you to live forever.
Still, you have to somehow continue living without any emotional ties to this world, or you need to find another friend with whiskers (because when there are sphinx cats it's politically incorrect to call cats our furry friends :-) )

You have to be strong for the sake of your friend. You have to find her reincarnated version and adopt her. Don't forget that soul IS immortal.

Loyal...

Andrea Lena's picture

...it's so hard to say goodbye to someone so true and dependable. I know I've had times of deep sadness and loneliness that were made easier to bear by my cats, and I see how much she meant to you in the same way; the solace she gave you and the comfort she gave you. And acceptance. I'm so sorry that she's gone.

She reminds me of Brittany

Who died a few years ago a month shy of 19. I got her with the ex-wife when she was 6, but she was all mine by the end. I still have her two furry sisters (whom she hated in her regal way). I still feel her inside of me (and generally don't believe in such things, but I feel her). She was Himalayan-Persian mix also with a gray undercoat and redish tint when the sun was on her just right.
