My 11 yr old grandnephew is in surgery as I write this; he is having a heart transplant.
He has some weird heart disease that is, as I understand it hardening the heart muscles. That is severely restricting blood flow. At 10 yrs old he only weighed 67 lbs. Doctors had hoped to wait longer to give his little body a chance to grow some more, but his condition worsened a few months back and he was placed on the transplant list. My nephew got the call last night to get him to the transplant hospital ASAP, and surgery started a little more than an hour ago. My nephew and his family are good Christians and I know prayers would be appreciated. I'll take good wishes/good vibes/whatever you would offer. He's too damn young for this!

Poor Kid
You have that thought from and wishing he does and lives longer and trouble free with that new heart. No kid that age should have to go thru that kind of suffuring. Right now that part of this old body of mine would probally be good.

He'll be ok
You have to be positive about things like this. I always believed if you think it'll be okay, than it will be.
So I wish for a speedy recovery!
Best of well..
That is really sad news. This is one of those I have a really hard time repling to as what is really the best thing to say.
All my hopes for a successful recovery.
Tels.
These things shouldn't happen to kids
My wishes are with your nephew as are my prayers, Arecee
Thoughts, prayers, good wishes needed
May he be Blessed with a strong heart and full recovery, not needing any drugs to get his body to accept the new heart.
May Your Light Forever Shine

He is in my thoughts too
Dear Karen,
Let's all hope that with modern skills and technology and expert surgeons he has the strength he needs.
If a heart was found and the consultants feel this is a chance and they were ready to operate then take some comfort at least that they would not use this heart if chances weren't at least more than favorable. There will be many others wanting this chance to use a heart and someone lost a loved one. So keep praying and wishing and hoping the transfer is a success.
You asked for whatever we could offer so my wishes are travelling thousands of miles to a little boy who is as you say too damn young for this. I hope that he is a fighter.
Little ones usually are!!

I lost a cousin to heart disease
back when I was a toddler, Karen. David was about 10 when he died from complications from a "Blue baby" operation.
I wish your grand nephew the very best of luck. My dad had his arotic valve replaced almost ten years ago and has survived to have both knees done and is still keeping busy at 85. Maybe your's will be as lucky.

May everything work out...
And that he recovers from this to become a strapping young lad one day.

Praying!
Praying that the operation goes well, and that his new heart lasts until medical science comes up with a truly permanent fix.
