Karen; I've known a lot of friends that were mostly of Nigro and Spanish Decent that have problems with razor burn especially when I was in the Army as they force everyone to shave everyday and also some females that shave their legs alot have the same problems too.

I suspect this was based on the original use. It will have to be retested as a topical ointment; that of course could slow down it's appearance (if approved).

Toxicity
I suspect the nephrotoxicity was in greater concentrations than would be experienced with this use. After all, toxicity depends not only on how toxic the compound is, but the dose (a 3% solution applied around the face, for example, would probably be < 1 gram), frequency ('up to six weeks' would indicate fairly low, but in testing they'd probably have to ensure it was safe for daily application, just in case someone was stupid enough to do so) and absorption rate.
Given the very low frequency of application, if it was approved it would probably be sold in tiny single-dose tubes and would probably carry a hefty price premium.
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!

This is not just for TG's like us, or even for men who hate shaving! Every woman in the world (OK, perhaps not every woman) is going to want to have a tube of this at home, aren't they?
Imagine not having to wax ever again. All that facial hair gone, underarms, legs, etc... A 'tiny single dose tube' just ain't going to cut it, sister.

Or after six weeks of daily use it became ineffective?
Or after six weeks it continued to be effective even after discontinuing daily use?
I wonder what the original research report says.

It's similar to other hair removal claims... In other words, use it topically every day for a week or so, once the hair stops growing, it'll remain stopped for up to six weeks. I suspect it's related to growth cycles, just like other hair removal products.
I also suspect they only tested it for a short period, I wonder if it might not actually be permanent, but you need to treat again each growth cycle until you get it all... just like electrolysis. Maybe... hopefully... It'd be a HUGE breakthrough if that turns out to be so.

That they're able to find this to be safe for this use and that it can get to market at an affordable price... constant hair removal is quite annoying, and it'll also be nice not to have to worry about seeing an electrologist for my beard after all.
