It's hard to know where to start. There are so many wonderful folks here who have meant the world to me; friends and sisters and nephews and nieces and daughters and even a mom for me, aye? But today I want to say how especially thankful I am for my sister from the Silver State; most of us know her as Laika, but she's Veronica to me. Three years of hand holding and weeping with me when I have been at my worst and sharing secrets and laughter when I've been at my best, I hope. She means the world to me. Won't you join me in wishing her a happy birthday?

And an oriental shout out to Joannebarbarella, my dearest of dears from the farflung land of Transoceania, who shares a day if not a date of birth with Laika. Happy Birthday, Jo!

Veronica has brightened many a dark hour for me with her posts here at TopShelf. I've only talked in private with her a handful of times, but they've always been thoroughly enjoyable.

Does this mean I should start calling her "Aunt" though? ^_~

I Didn't Forget!

Here's to my Vivacious Veronica, whose BIRTHDAY falls on The Ides Of March in America which shares half the realtime hours with mine on the other side of the International Dateline.

I was computerless in Oz and returned to Singapore last night after a frantic week.

I did my best to avoid getting to 70 a couple of weeks ago by falling down and damaging myself, but it didn't turn out so badly as it was mainly just very painful when I did ANYTHING at all (and still does a little). I went to hospital and had three X-rays, a brain-scan (yes I do have one although you would wonder sometimes) two ECGs and countless blood pressures taken.

What did they find? A broken big toe! Which will mend on its own....and the black eye has gone now! I could publish a picture of the violent purple bruise on my bum, but this is a NICE place and pornography is a No-No. Don't ask how so many bits of me came into contact with so many hard surfaces, 'cos I have no idea.

Thanks to everyone for the Birthday Wishes as well. I'll try to behave myself...well, mostly.
