patronising twit who can't use myriad properly. One might say there are myriad abusers of the word myriad.

Angharad

That being the case, though

Couldn't myriad twits be at least a myriad? ;-)

Nouns vs Adjectives

As a noun yes, as an adjective no. It was used as an adjective in the piece in which case you don't need a definite or indefinite article.

In the phrase "a myriad of" myriad is being used as a noun, a noun in an adjectival phrase but a noun. It's parallel to saying "a raftload of".

Myriad

I still think it's inelegant writing, and the author a patronising twit.

But I enjoyed the article you linked to AND the discussion of "myriad".

I liked the article...

Just couldn't think of anything useful to say about it, and decided it was best if I stayed out of the myriad discussion.

I found the initial reaction to be on the slightly positive, mildly selfish, gentle side of typical. Could'a been worse, then I suspect we wouldn't be reading about it. Everybody learns and grows and the worlds a smidge nicer. Works for me.

As for myriad, I thought it worked, then what do I know, I've prob'ly made more egregious errors here and elsewhere, perhaps myriads of. Or will. Hmm, is that two g's or three? No red squiggly thing so I'm guessing two, at least per the BC dictionary whatsit.
