Yesterday I wrote that my mom was fine with my feelings. Well, from the way I understood from listening to her I am allow to explore my girl side as long I do not make a show of it. I like to be a girl alone, unless I find some who are like me here in Nashua, NH. I will go out in public, but first I need to get something’s under control. Then I am getting my body ready for both. I like to cut my hair short, for it grows curly and thick. So I am looking at getting all my hair remove from the face down. When I look think of myself as a girl I think red head. Then I need to look at a place for myself and maybe at roommate to share the cost of the place. So I mean to say is I still have some things to do before I can go into full finding myself.

try a natural wave
My hair has a natural wave. I keep it really long for simplicity. Put in pony tail and im done if its any shorter it looks a mess no matter how hard i try. Although i have lost about a foot 2 years ago because i caught it on fire, i was welding underneath a car, its down below my waist.
Roommates are tough. Good luck finding one. Its hit and miss to find one that works well with you. I had one roomie who I ended up kicking her out at 2 oclock in the morning for stealing from me.
Don't know...
Don't know if this is an option for you/your mom... But Peabody, MA's not that far away from you...

The woman you are.
Living as a woman is different for every T girl starting out. I went through a phase of going out dancing in skirts so short that my bumm was peeking out, but then became Muslim, so went to the other extreme, even wearing the Niqab for a short time.
Each of us is different, but for me, pants are a big NO NO, and why I feel that way is sort of a mystery. I think it may be due to having been forced to live as a man for so many years and when I finally got to be me, I do it with a vengeance. LOL
Now days, I wear skirts of any length as long as they are floor length. LOL um mostly. In fact, even though I am now once again Christian, I still look mostly like a Muslim, or a Nun as you wish. Heck, I am 65 soon so the mini and skinny top, well, they just don't work.
Amazingly, my two dozen or so hairs are below my shoulders and I have found that I can do a comb back and wear it in public with nice dangly ear rings, and pearl necklace and no one gives me grief. I do have a long wig which people love, though.
I keep the makeup minimal, a bit of coverup on my rosebud stain chin, and some lippy and that is about it.
The smile, the carriage, the demeanor, and friendliness seem to carry it off.
Much peace

My hair is so curly and thick...
The word "afro" doesn't even come close.
As a male, I always kept my hair buzzed off, now that I'm transitioning into a female, though, I'm letting it grow. I'm planning to use chemical straighteners on it, should help with both problems.
I have this type of shampoo, that you can't buy in stores, that really does wonders on thinning it down to something more manageable, temporarily. Unfortunately, you'd have to use it daily if you wanted to never have to worry about it, which is why I want to try chemical straighteners.
And no, the particular shampoo I use, I can't tell you a way to get it, there's only one way to get it, and I can't get it anymore. Salon's might carry something that'll do the trick though, if you ask. I can tell you that you won't find anything in supermarkets, drugstores, or department stores though... Not if your hair is even remotely like mine. They do often carry various shampoos and conditioners that CLAIM to thin down seriously overly thick hair, but if it's SERIOUSLY seriously thick, it simply doesn't come close to having enough effect.
