Wow
That took guts, especially for a kid his age.
Watch This!

touching
Im probably being oblivious or obtuse here but what is his problem? or is it her problem? I don't understand. Its an incredibly brave video fer sure. I couldn't do that.
Problem?
Bullying. Damaged self-worth. Isolation. Fear.
Bravery is acting despite fear. Brave kid indeed.

Well...
Considering some of the things on the card listing things the bullies called him...
I'd assume that he *MIGHT* be somewhat less than the "masculine norm". He didn't actually say if he was transgender or gay. He doesn't appear obviously effeminate in appearance, so it must just be behavior.
That he was bullied over it is not a surprise at all. Kids are nasty towards each other as it is, if you don't fit the stereotypes at that age, it's even worse.
I quickly defended myself by hiding myself away and presenting to the world a mask of someone who "didn't care".
Many kids are not so fortunate... And yes, even though my solution was slowly killing me internally, I consider myself fortunate for having found it. The alternatives could have been far worse.
As adults, most people will respect you, even if they disagree with you, if you hold your head high and respect yourself. Children don't care. Different means it's fair game to bully you, no matter what you do.
"Professionals" have counseled to "ignore them and they'll find a target that will fight back" for years, but that doesn't really work. Even after adopting my blase mask, I was still bullied. It took a few times of me going nuclear to put enough FEAR into the bullies to be left alone. At that point, they figured the risk was too high. They could have messed with me and gotten a free laugh with no repercussions, or they could have found themselves being rescued from an impending holocaust. That's probably the only real way to be left alone, be unpredictable. Appear unstable. Only then will they fear you enough to choose a different target. Being faster than everyone else helps too. I wasn't particularly strong, but if I "went off", you didn't see it coming. And the speed also meant momentum, and momentum with enough weight behind it can overcome many much stronger foes.
I'm not sure what this kid is hoping to accomplish by putting that video out there... If anything, bullies are likely to escalate from it. Perhaps teachers and other authorities will step up the watch, but they are understaffed and can only do so much. I guess he just needed the relief from sharing his hurt... I always shared mine with my Creator, but I can see how this would work for those who don't believe in a Creator.
Anyways, honestly, he doesn't have the problem. The bullies have the problem. He's just an unfortunate victim.
EDIT: Though yes, he did have a problem - cutting/suicidal thoughts and lack of self-worth. Obviously the latter is no longer an issue, you don't reach out like this with no self-worth. The cutting and thoughts of suicide, if it's still going on, can be rectified by GOOD counseling. Too many though, even those who are supposed to be "the best", are really really lousy at helping victims of bullying. They don't generally understand. Not really.

"I kinda hate me too" - Oh how I've been there.

I'm not sure I was ever really there...
I didn't understand myself, I didn't respect myself, I was... shall we say "disgusted" with myself. It's not really the same thing as hate. Anger is generally involved with both, but to differing degrees and with slightly different targets. Hate is directly targeted, while disgust is indirect.
I didn't directly hate myself for being different, but I was disgusted at my inability to be normal.

Update
He's taken the thank you down.
Bullying.
When you're the only one or even if it seems as if you're the only one, and there's absolutely nobody there for you, there's only two ways out that I can think of. Suicide or physical absence. Either/or, the only solution is running away.
However, this kid seemed to have 'somebody there for him/her' though. (I wish there was a gender neutral human pronoun beside's 'it') The kid seems to be glancing away all the time to garner support or direction from somebody 'out of camera shot'. Hopefully, its a genuine friend at long last cos that somebody has given the kid an opportunity to express his/her feelings.
Mind you 1st grade to 8th grade is a brutally long time to have been bullied but sadly that can be 'the norm' for such as us. Teachers can be soo-oo soo blind!
Thanks Steph.

Blind Teachers
It's been said that the teachers in schools are blind, but I don't think that's true.
Bullying has been around for donkey's years and not only do teachers know it exists, they know who the victims are as well as the bullies themselves.
I think it's political more than anything that kids aren't hauled over the coals for bullying. First we have this business of proof and then we also have the fact that if anyone admitted to the fact, it would reflect badly upon the school.
In these days of parents feeling it's the schools job to teach the kids right from wrong and the schools feeling the parents are responsible, no-one's doing anything, meaning that it's probable that the problem is actually escalating.
We don't only have blind teachers - or teachers turning a blind eye, but parents who don't feel it's their responsibility or at the very least, feel that the kids should fight their own battles and a system that just plainly and simply doesn't care.
I don't just look it, I'm totally of the opinion that the whole world's going to hell in a handbasket
