I read Dorothy Colleen's entry called "A Tapestry of Stars" earlier today and I felt compelled to share something with you all. Before I do, I need to explain something. Every star on the tapestry mentioned in that story represent all of the TG men and women who have been murdered for being who they really are in the area the story takes place in.
What it doesn't cover is the people who should be on there as well, but are not because they took their own lives, unable to take the pain and suffering and being led to think they had no choice in the matter anymore. To my admittedly limited knowledge, there aren't many things done to remember these poor souls, aside from a simple mentioning of them in passing on days like today. It is to the ones like them (whether Trans, Gay, Lesbian, or Bi) that the song I fell compelled to share with you all is dedicated.
It's called "Make It Stop (September's Children)" by a group called Rise Against. While it doesn't specifically talk about the murders, or the stars on the tapestry, it does talk about the ones that were driven to suicide by bullying for being different or not fitting society's mold of what they "should be". It's because of this that I think it is appropriate for this day.

A bit of a warning though, the first link does allude to actions that are quite tragic and senseless. They do not actually take place, but are depicted as almost happening. I would recommend having a tissue or two on hand, just in case. I hope you all enjoy the message of this song.

As I said privately
this song has a powerful message, and I hope it helps others here as it did me today.

It is powerful
And more than a bit saddening, but the message more than makes up for it. I'm glad you liked it. :)

With a suicide rate of over 40% your comment is very relevant, especially for me as the intervention and
treatment by our Sexual Health Clinic saved my life in September of last year.Thank you for raising such
an important matter. Alison
