Well, on Oct 12, I came into my workplace in full femme. Essentially, I've started my real life test, even though I have no intention of getting SRS.
This actual process was this:
I told my immediate supervisor about my TG status on teh first day. I told him that he could share it with those who HAD to know, HR, his manger, the team lead that I was with, but that if he didn't pass it around it would be good.
At the same time, I started wearing more makeup, wearing girl's jeans and sometimes tops, sports bras which couldn't hide the budding breasts.
Anyone who did ask I told the truth to, and those that didn't say anything knew anyhow. It was a real matter of "It'syour life, do what you want".
I kept this up for about four months, slowly coming out to more and more people, managers included.
It wasn't just one day walk in and surprise them all, but up till this point I was wearing *pieces* of girl, and not insisting on femine pronouns or Joy and wasn't using the female bathroom.
When I came out on the 12th, I did, put them all together and put on makeup, asked those who I interacted with to call me Joy, started using the girls restroom.
So far, there's only one person I have questions about, he is a "good ole boy" of the classic sense.
Everyone else, they really haven't batted an eyelash, most of those who I have been working with for the last several months had absolutely no comment about it.
So it was a HUGE non-issue with everyone, just as I had hoped.
And it turns out that since I wrote that, the "good ole boy" is simply being his recalcitrant self, and that (on the surface) he doesn't have a problem with the transition either.
As I've told anyone who asks, I don't care if you accept it, I don't care if you like it, I don't care if you think I'm burning in some hell or freezing in another Hel, the only thing I care about is "can you get past this enough to let us work together and accomplish the job we are being paid to do?" If that answer is "yes" then we are fine and I shrug my shoulders.
That "get past it" includes no attacks, emotional, verbal or physical.
So far, it has been that way, and I'm thrilled.
Need to raise $157.50 for my name change fee, then get my birth cert amended to Female (TN for the name, IL for the birth cert) and that's it. I will be Joy Anne Phillip evermore.
Wow.
