I will be moving and incommunicado from the time I finish this message until sometime Saturday night! I can be reached via my cell phone, and there are a few that know that number -- or at least have had that number given to them. |
Moving by train as the cheapest option... I still ended up leaving a LOT of my stuff behind. But then, a lot of stuff gets gathered in two years, right?
I'll be back, but no promises about Saturday because I'm pretty sure I'll be wiped out for at least a day. So, to the point of me telling all of you this... I'm curious... how many people here can remember all the times they've moved? Both locally and large moves? I have been to 47 states and have moved an average of three times every two years I've been alive, if you combine moving house across town and moving to another area both. This will be the seventy-third (73rd) time I've relocated in my lifetime. MOST of those were just moving around in the same areas. |

Wasn't it Jim Henson who said, "Without faith, I am nothing," after all? No, wait, that was God... Sorry, common mistake to make... |

Twenty-One...
....by the way, I just found out that I have an aunt in California who is my mother's heretofore unknown half-sister. Her mother is descended among other folks, from Blackeneys from the Northeast. Hope your move gets you settled for what you would like to do, and that whatever you put your hand to is successful!

Moving Can Be Such A Pain
Having been a career military officer, we moved a number of times, let's see: San Antonio, Little Rock (2 moves), Wichita Falls via Montgomery Alabama, San Antonio (2 moves), Little Rock, Tucson, Little Rock (2 Moves); then retirement and only two moves in the last 25 years.
Edeyn, it was great meeting you at last. I hope your journey works out.

I hate moving. I really really hate moving. 27 times and counting.
Hugs and Blessings,

Let's see....
Carmel -> Kodiak -> New London -> Norfolk -> Monterey -> Hazlehurst -> Guam -> Jacksonville Beach -> Mayport -> Bellevue -> Picayune -> Rochester -> Picayune -> Norfolk (USS Francis Marion) -> Picayune -> Rochester -> Picayune -> Corpus Christie -> Charleson -> Virginia Beach -> Picayune -> Rochester -> Picayune -> Buenos Aires -> Bihia Blanca (ARA Py) -> Mar Del Plata -> Buenos Aires -> Picayune -> Rochester -> Picayune -> Pensacola -> Rochester -> Norfolk (BOQ) -> Norfolk (Appartment) -> (USS Dwight D Eisenhower -> Norfolk (several repeats) -> Holmstead -> Norfolk -> Portsmouth -> Chapel Hill -> Norfolk -> Rochester -> Wellesley -> Stoneham -> "here".
Left out a bunch of the moves while in the USN... As it's not worth counting... But, moving on/off the Ship was a pain! Amazing thing is it's 21 years in the house now! WOW. But, you've got me beat... First person I've met, too... Congratulations.
Best wishes on a safe move.
Anne
Good grief!
What a lot of moves! You must have seen a fair amount of your country if you've lived in 47 states (presumably the contiguous ones!)
I've only permanently lived in four locations, Alveley, Shrops; Kidderminster, Worcs; Aberystwyth, Ceredigion (3 residences - halls, student village, private room let); Kenilworth, Warks. However, if you include locations where I've lived weekdays only while studying, you can add Builth Wells, Powys (B&B); Little Wenlock (nr. Telford), Shrops (B&B); Evesham, Worcs (2 residences - private room let, B&B).
There are 10 kinds of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who don't...
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Not lived in...
BEEN to 47 states. I've lived in a lot of them, but not that many! :)
