I just thought that readers might be interested in this article in the Daily mail; a paper not usually noted for liberal compassionate views.

which article?

The one about the mom of the kid who went back to school as a girl? You linked the index rather than any specific article.

Wow. That was really

Zoe Taylor's picture

Wow. That was really emotionally moving for me, especially this line: 'It would have been child abuse to force her to live as a boy'

It amazes me that this article ran in the Daily Wail, but I have to hope people will sit up and take notice, and understand that this little girl really is just that - a little girl.

Thanks for bringing this up, Bev. It really made my evening :-)

Thank you for sharing Beverly.

It is one thing to disgaree with a person's life, lifestyle or identity, it is another to call the person you disdagree with nasty names or even threaten them. Livvy has the right to be who she is, and anybody who calls her nasty names or even threatens her is the one with the problem and needs serious psychiatric help.

The Daily Mail is fickle...

Earlier this week they ran a story on Livvie with a completely different spin, and the readers responded in kind:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2036545/Mother-sen...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2037133/Sex-change-b...

Compare and contrast - the two earlier articles (by Claire Ellicott) was basically repeating what the unsympathetic bunch of parents were crowing about, while for the second article they went to the trouble of sending a (different!) reporter (Helen Weathers) out to visit the family. Funnily enough, both the tone of the later article (in Bev's original post) and the comments are completely different to before. Comments that would have earned a large thumbs down on the earlier articles gain a large thumbs up on the later article.

Hmm...

Welcome

Welcome to humanity mew, human's are fickle.
Also... I learned that it's better not to read the comments sometimes. Unfortunately ignorance and ill educated people fill this planet, so a large volume of responses generally seem quite... cruel mew.

The problem is that you

The problem is that you can't rely on reporters. Every one of them has their own agenda, and most don't feel the need to report what exactly happened.
Imho it's as important to read the comments as to read the articles. Many comments explain stuff that was neclected before.

And sometimes...

...the comments can largely disagree with the reporter. There have been a few equality/diversity related stories over the past few months where the reporter has spinned the story with a negative stance, but the highest rated comments have been very supportive of the target of the article's vitriol. You never can tell...
