Well the major pain hit about 1AM like a blow torch across my toes,GOD BLESS my WIFE who got up and got the pain meds and ice . I went to the doctor this morning and he numbed the foot (wonderful)now later it should not be so bad.I now have pins in toes 3,4,& 5 the big toe is fused straight with screws and the pinkie toe #5 had the bone chipped out so the toe could be moved over. I feel OK now I have a month to heal and I CAN'T TAKE A BATH all this time gross. THANKS FOR THE KIND WORDS---HUGS & KISSES RICHIE2

Similar, but different
A number of years ago (2002) I had to have surgery to remove a bone spur from my left heel. It was behind the Achilles tendon. They had to detach the tendon from the heel to get at the spur and then reattach it (the tendon) with a pin. I had to be off my feet (in a cast) for eight weeks. And yeah, no baths or showers. Lots of sponge baths. Yuck.
Fortunately, my pain wasn't as bad (or the Vicodin worked better.)
Prayers and best wishes to you for a speedy, pain free recovery.

Hey, I like sponge baths!
Unfortunately, a good sponge bath frequently leaves me feeling worn out and sweaty! Maybe we're doing it wrong? (Yay us!)

Get well soon, Richie2!

No baths-
So this is where we say "Hugs, from a safe distance" and hope you heal as quickly as possible!
wrap well

Find some way to wrap the foot. Use a heavy duty water proof bag. Tape it closed. Get in the tub with no water in it, fill the tub, make it a bubble bath - nice scent to make you feel good ;-, and have your lovely, always helpful wife, hold your foot above the water. Wash, better yet if your honey can hold the foot and wash you at the same time, let her wash you all around ;-0. Rinse. Remove the water, then get out. Dry off. No more grossness. A little cumbersome but a bath might still be possible.

Get well Richie,
ALISON
'and Rami has given you sound advice to help you bathe but still keep the foot dry.Even if you only have a shower recess you can sit on a stool with your foot wrapped and stuck out through the shower curtain.
Hope all goes well for you.
