crossdressing conventions

No, I don't mean a convention where everybody cross-dresses (although that sounds like fun...) I mean that in movies where a male character dresses as a woman, it seems like there are certain conventions that must be followed. The first is the set-up, where the reason for the disguise is explained. Usually, the situation is pretty far-fetched, to say the least. Then there is the actual dressing-up, which is usually done as fast as possible. The character seems to be able to find clothes that fit, learns how to do make-up, and how to walk and talk like a woman in record time. Then there is the intimate moments. Usually, the guy, while dressed, is exposed to a man who seems to find him irresistible. Why this happens is hard to fathom, since he still pretty much looks like a dude in a dress, but there you go. Then the character gets to spend time with a beautiful woman who he has a crush on while dressed. She treats him as a girl, either undressing in front of him, or telling him about her feelings about men (and the character in particular), or both. Then there is the big reveal, where the truth comes out, and he shows how much the experience has made him a better person. Then, he wins the day, gets the girl, and lives happily ever in time for the credits to roll.

I can think of a few other

I can think of a few other typical cross-dressing story plots and IMDB.com lists 776 titles when you do a key word search for cross dress.
Also see Wikipedia for an extensive list.

The Fashion Model One...

..."Ugliest Girl in Town", circa 1970 -- the premise being that if the British fashion industry was getting so eccentric as to make Twiggy an ideal, then an American in drag might be their next new look.
