The action in my post "62 hours" went wonderfully.

I can't believe how easily everything went.
I had to wait until the court room opened at 9AM, and was out before 9:15, after teh judge (GG) made a little joke about it.

"Holly Happy Hart, I think that is one of the best names I've ever heard I hope you'll be very, ( short pause ), HAPPY, ( second short pause ) with it." This in front of a courtroom full of people. I wonder how often she gets to use a bit of fun word play?

By 9:30 I had several certified copies of the decree.

I did a little unsuccessful shopping since I was going past the store on the way home. By 12:47, I had been successful at Social Security, and the Department of Motor Vehicles and both of my banks.

AT DMV, they didn't seem to even know that the change of gender form existed, though soon found out their expert was out for the day. They went to the manual, which told them I needed to use the older form that was obsoleted by law 2 years sago, so I walked them though it, as I knew from observation when I'd gotten the blank form, where it and its instructions were. Still, it only took an hour, and I got a chance to educate 3 people about being Transgendered, Transsexuals, and Intersex.

The gal at Soc Security seemed to know a lot already.

The first bank I went to was not my home branch, but took care of me right away. The young man who helped me, recognized me. He lives in Apt 14 at the complex where I live, but thought Dave and Holly were two different people. Maybe I pass better than I thought, as I have spoken to him in the laundry room, where I go as Holly.

All in all, a very pleasant and HAPPY day. And so far, I have only had to give away one certified copy. ( With the state of California's budget mess, the new fees have them up to $26 each!!!!)

My paper temporary DL says F, though I had to make the lady fix her first try, but it will be about 8 weeks, maybe, for them to get me the actual license. The new 'formightgery resistant license has so many bells and whistles and ways making it can go wrong, that a sizable percetge have to be redone at least once.
