I have been editing for BC/TS authors for some time now on a pro bono basis. I have been happy to do it and will continue it as a "Thank You" for the stories. Apparently, it has been well received, because I'm getting repeat business.
I would like to transform my skills into a profit making business (NOT AFFECTING THE AUTHORS ON THIS SITE). I already have a web site at write-it-right.com, and would appreciate any ideas any of you might have to generate business. The charges will be relatively low ($2-$3 per page) to clean up and improve writing for people who need help.
The only authors who might be affected are people who ultimately want to sell their work through an agent. If it is just published on free sites, I would continue the "no fee" policy.
I have written and published four books, with a fifth in process. I have a son who is a down-sized journalist, now doing free lance writing, and I plan to involve him in the business. He has already edited several of my books, and he's good at it.

I write for pure recreation, though I've begun doing some small things for an environmental blog. They say I'll be paid for it, but I am not expecting much if anything. Back in the late 80s when I first started writing, I thought that a couple creative writing classes, a writer made, but alas I was wrong.
Now, 25 years later, certain people are showing interest in my writing, but now getting published in print requires, um I don't know what and I am not going to work that hard to get into the commercial Science Fiction Genre.
I think many of the authors here are so financially compromised that they just can't spare it. I wish I could paint a brighter picture for you.

the thing you will need include a business plan, including how you find/attract customers, ect. There are resources on running a home-based business available.
