It seems that a British woman has died after having a questionable medical procedure done in a hotel in the US. Given that most of us who entered 'femaleness' after puberty may be slightly lacking in the hip area, do beware of anything involving silicone - it's very dangerous stuff. I remember seeing it being done to young Brazilian trannies years ago and wonder how many are still alive now?
This fixation of having the perfect body in the minds of young people especially, is pernicious as well as unachievable for most. It's about the objectification of the human (female)form and mainly based on marketing sex, directly or otherwise.

Hips, big or otherwise
Curiously, as I wander round my local vicinity doing my favourite people-watching, I'm constantly struck by just how small-hipped a lot of modern women are, especially the younger ones. Okay, there are also the usual quota of lard-butts but the range of variation seems amazing sometimes.
I look at some of the youngish girls I see serving in shops and cafes and wonder just how they will get on when the time comes to bear their own children. Their hips look far too slim to allow a baby to emerge, in fact they look more like the hips of a man than those of a woman.
Is this another sign of chemicals altering our basic body shapes? I'm just waiting for the first three-eyed fish to be found in one of our rivers (obligatory Simpsons reference...).
Ang - in the Daily Express reporting of this story of yours it says that the 'practitioner' was in fact a trans person, although the mention is very slight. I wonder if this will be used as a stick to beat TG people even more?

When I was i Thailand getting my bits rearranged, I was going to get a bum job too, but it cost almost as much as the other, so I gave it up. However, I did get a simple little proceedure that was well worth it, and that was to have a little tuck on my upper lip, thus exposing my top teeth. The Doc just took about 5mm of flesh out just b'neath my nose. Now that was well worth it and one of my friends thought I'd had a full facial rearrangement. LOL

Please don't blame it directly on the silicone. Silicone is about as chemically neutral as you can get. They still use it for a lot of things, and nobody's ever made a real link to any medical problems. Just a lawsuit link.
One of my customers is a plastic surgeon (20 some odd years of experience), with zero lawsuits ever filed against him. He mostly uses the saline, but has used silicone in the past. There are a number of myths about it, and propagating them doesn't help anyone.
Now, one thing I will say that is interesting - I was talking with one of the staff the other day, and she was commenting about needing to get a new mammogram. Apparently the mammogram places are known to _pop_ breast implants in their zeal to get good mammogram photos. I wonder how many of the 'leaking' implants were due to that sort of abusive behaviour.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
Silicone sources
All too often the silicone used by armatures is industrial silicone lubricating oil. While I am sure Dow or whoever makes it does so with high standards in mind for the purposes for which it is formulated, I may be wrong but I doubt that the medical grade stuff comes from the same vat?

I don't believe I can argue with that one. I'm certain that just about anyone can _get_ medical grade silicone (gel or foam), but do they bother? What I am sure of is that industrial grade silicone lubricant tends to have other crap in it - contaminants, for any purpose other than the intended.
What makes me boggle is that the main focus should be on 'In a hotel room'. You have to be seriously desperate to work with anyone who doesn't even have a clean room.

I considered it, most of us look like a family of four just vacated the seat of our pants, I would not want the now popular "ghetto onion" look but some degree of normalcy would be nice.
No amount of vanity would keep me off my butt for two weeks, laying on your tummy gets old after a few hours.

for any buttock implants and the like, god forbid if he or she puts it in in reverse, I mean, that would just be ass backwards, I'd say!
Sadly these type of stories happen way too often in our community and mostly because of money issues ... and sadly excessive vanity. I do not have a generous bum, though it is not too bad and thanks to a good adolescent surge of estrogen, fair hips but narrow. So I guess I fit into the range Penny above speaks of. Unless ones must, say one has REALLY narrow hips, it is really not worth the pain and risk to do it. You can gamble with injectable silicone but a moment on the hips may wind up a life time on the tips of your toes.
