What an amazing woman she is. I haven't heard of her before, but I think I'd like to check out her books.

Has anyone heard of her or read her books?

I've read that as well...

Andrea Lena's picture

...part of my journey in discovery of who I am. I'm glad, at least from the way the article reads, that she remains married; the autobiography ended as her relationships with her family were being sorted out. I recommend it highly.

I have "I am looking through you" on CD

It is a sequil to "She's not there" and on the CD it is read by the author. It is moving, powerful stuff, and I recommend it. And yes, Drea, she is still married to her wife.

We need to comment in on the article

At the paper's site, we need to comment. I tried signing up tonight but one of my two brain cells is malfunctioning. I'll try again tomorrow. Someone needs to balance off the homophobes.

Jenny Fiiney Boylan's books

I found She's Not There a better read than her later I'm Looking Through You, both of which are memoirs. The first is much more about the struggles of coping and transitioning, although I thought she gave short-shrift to her spouse and what she had to go through. She gave a call for more stories about trans people at the Southern Comfort conference a few years ago - some of which I quoted in a post here.

I've also read Getting In, a novel publish when she was James Boylan, about college admissions and visits, which is...not great.

Southern Comfort conference

I met her at the last Southern Comfort Conference and she is very nice and told her about this website. She is writing a new fantasy story based on Falcon Quinn who is a kid that is turning into a monster. The series will be at least three books maybe seven. She read a portion to us at the conference and it was a great book. Jenny even autographed my copy of her autobiography and we come from the same area in Maine.

It is a long road ahead but I will finally become who I should be.
