Mom let's her kid dress as Daphne1 for Hallowe'en; flak happens.
I know, I know, someone is now going to tell me (again) that the fact the mother got grief and the kid was nervous proves that the world is a horrible place. But for one little boy2 it's better than it could be no matter what his gender.
1Not our Daphne, who has not posted anything in far, far too long, but the character from Scooby Doo.
2I see no indications the child isn't the gender his mother assumes he is.

that theses women felt the need to step in. The kid looks happy, and isnt hurting anybody, so who the heck cares? Sigh. I wonder if things will ever be better...

Is it ninja or Daphne? Are the 'evil' 3 evil? Was Mum just a little naive? Is Boo a cool kid? I dunno, it's all a matter of perspective I guess. It's easy to deride the 3 meanies but their seeming in your faceness aside did Mum never see that as a possibility? Sure, I think Boo should be able to do Daphne on Halloween without any derision and it would be nice to think that could happen. But unfortunately the world is not free of prejudice or hard held ideals. I can almost see Boo in the background pulling in and nodding to himself at his fears being realised. Sad.
As ever, some will be cool and some will peer over the bifocals and some will sneer and some... Tis better than it was I think, but not free and clear by any means. There's always some. Sigh.

If there's anything sillier than a boy dressing like a girl, it must be adults upset about a boy dressing like a girl. :-)
I'd suggest his mother find a healthier church in which to raise her son.

I don't watch the show . . .
Glee, that is. But they played this bit on the morning radio talk show I listen to driving to work. The girl's coach was doing some kind of bit on the school PA system and she starts off talking about Halloween. It went something like this: "It's that time of year again, that day when parents dress their little boys up like little girls and their little girls up like sluts . . .". I almost had a car wreck, I was laughing so hard!
