And especially not attached to someone's story but this egregious behavior is OBVIOUSLY forbidden even in blogs or forums! Personal attacks are not allowed and malicious sock-puppetry will get you banned quicker than you can say "database records of access by ip address"!
Got that? Good. And don't think using Guest Reader logins will protect anonymous access to the site, I can find a commenter's IP address if I want to take the trouble to do so. I've banned whole ISPs from the site for spam, I can do it for bullshit, too. I only looked up the ip address of the particular "Guest Reader" who posted the bullshit but looking down from there I saw the same ip address with a different login. THAT PERSON IS BANNED! And if they try to get back on this website or any of my servers, they will find me sending a letter about abuse to their ISP.

I'm angry and sad
The person who posted a blatant attack on a BC author as Guest Reader is the same one who then jumped in to crow about it, pretending not to be the instigator. This is called malicious sock-puppetry and is sufficient to get one banned on almost any net venue. Including here.

I Agree with You Erin
... and am myself sad too. But we must remain on guard for those that wish to divide us and shut down our home through instigation. Please let me know if there is something I can do to help you. Its not just for you to do ALL the work, after all, we live here to! :)

i am not good in english but to read ;) so excuse me in advance for the bad english.
i am not a TG myself only a reader, and i like some story in your site and i found awfull from some nutty guy to come here to insult other because he was religious or other think (like gaybasher).
some time i think the one who are the more aggresive versus gay person are an affraid gay person itself (itself because the 3+ gender in the site).
if i can do something from where i am; just say me, i live in france and can call the french police for you.

So very sad
This is so very sad! Some one attacking another trying to hide under a cloak of anonymity through the use of the guest reader function. Not only is it sad but it is nasty too. This is such a small group by comparison that it is bad when some one or an issue divides the group. And I can't blame Erin for being very upset that it was done here.
Thank You Erin.
May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his *** and may his arms grow too short to scratch it.
Hugs for Erin.

Easily Fixed
It seems every week or two there's some great hue and cry about use of the Guest Reader login. Frankly, all the sturm und drang on the subject is tiresome and seems easily avoidable. Just turn it off.
I must conclude that there's absolutely no point to having it anymore. After all, as I have been repeatedly reminded, with stern slaps, after expressing my various free-speech-commie-intellectual views, this site is not intended as "an open forum". If not, then there's no compelling reason to allow easy public access to it.
Besides, the burden of registering for a personal login is minimal, especially these days. It's no trouble at all for someone who wishes to keep their personal email account private to register for a free public email account at yahoo, gmail or numerous other places. I would wager that many of us here have done that, separating their RL identity from their TG one. Therefore, I must also conclude that making it a requirement to register in order to participate in comments and forums is not burdensome in the least.
Abuse of the Guest Reader login is easily solved, and the downside of disabling that login is minimal.
Not really a problem
This wasn't abuse of the GR login, it was abuse of multiple logins. This person could have created multiple logins and did this same sort of thing. In fact, MSP did create a second login from another computer with another ISP last night but had the gall to tell me about it in a PM. Pop went the weasel.
I've actually had a heck of a lot less trouble with GRs than with people who have accounts. :)
