Been out for a run last night, my first real big hill route since my ankle tendon decided to complain in May. Only 4 or 5 miles and the legs still remember what I forced them to do.
Still good it is good to be able to go out even if I am about 25% slower. I do hope my speed and endurance recovers soon as I am now looking forward to which races I might do. Edale skyline next year is favourite at the mo

Best of luck there..

I walk for exercise, myself... About 4 years ago, I had a issue with my lungs & Legs. Mostly resolved in about six months, but my walking speed dropped from almost 4.4 mph to barely 3.0 mph. (as measured on treadmills)... Only in the last six months have I gotten back over 4 mph walking... It's been a long - slow climb. I hope your climb is faster, as your issue seems to be different.

I used to walk for exercise, too, for two or three hours a day (I am so out of shape now). When I was in good practice I could manage an average walking speed of around 7 miles an hour for long walks, or more like 10 for shorter ones (hour or less). I'd probably be pushing it to do 5 miles an hour for a long walk, now. :(

I still walk faster in heels than most people do in flat shoes, though. ;)

Good luck getting back to racing

Good luck getting back to racing. I know it can be hard recovering from injuries. I'm trying now to get over some.
That sounds like a great race to look forward to, and you've got almost six months to get ready. I'll be doing some short road races (5K, etc.) as part of my recovery.

Don't know the race ...

... but if it's the Edale I know then it's sure to be hard. If it is where I guess it is then I suppose you're also familiar with the Dovedale Dash, which I used to know well.

Good luck. Injury can be very frustrating.

Did not know if any would reply to my bit.
The reason I hurt myself was that I ran Hadrians wall in May, then if you know it ran Peakers Stroll, then carried on doing shorter fell races which just made things worse, should have stayed on the towpaths.
Dovedale dash was on my list for this year :(
Of to do a 5k parkrun this morning to see how my speed is improving.

Does your name have anything to do with Lau ran? or runs?

I did a 38:25 for a ten K in '80; I was 30 and powered by below the normal range T. Are you running on T or HRT these days? I did 2 or 3 half marathons and pretty poor marathon in '85 in something like 2:43. In early 1986, I hurt my back kind of badly and have never done another running race or triathlon, but that's because of my bad, now osteoarthritic knee. I have done some bike races.
