I went to my 20th High School Reunion last night and the reaction to me was very positive. The girls I spent time with in High School welcomed me with open arms. We had so much fun! There were eight of us girls out on the floor at one time and we just let loose! We danced four dances in a row before we sat down to rest. My friends were thrilled that I found happiness and that I was finally on the same side of the fence with them. I got a lot of compliments on my outfit and they told me I looked so pretty!There were a few Rednecks that didn't react very well, but I really didn't care what they thought anyway. I had my true friends there and that was all that mattered. We have decided that we are going to have a reunion every 5 years instead of ten from now on. We are all getting older and don't want that much time to pass before we get together again. My week has been a whirlwind anyway because I had just gotten back from going to see my grandmother in New Hampshire. I was so touched when my aunt would introduce me to my grandmother's doctor and nurses as her niece. I knew that she was accepting of me, but that reassured me that she really was and I love her so much for it!

so well for you. The problem with these things is that until you go you really don't know what is going to happen, but I'm really pleased it went well and acceptance or acknowledgement from relatives is always good.

The key
It's simple, really simple. Ask yourself, always, "does this person's opinion matter to me?"
If it doesn't, then it doesn't. You have said how accepting those who DO matter to you have been, so win-win.
Decades ago in my job I learnt a similar lesson: when some "customer" is ranting and yelling abuse, which of us looks stupid? It is now difficult forme not tolaugh out loud when people do that.
Keep your eye on the prize and ignore unnecessary and empty noises off.
Reunions
I actually find them amusing. You go and there's the one's who moved and did good and realized the high-school has very little to do with actual life. Then there are the ones that can't help but slap on the best face on things and go trying to regain a false sense of power they had in highschool they generally gather back into their cliques. And my favorites are the ones who lorded the fact they were in sports or part of the in crowds are still wearing their varsity jackets and stuff 10, 20 years later. Their greatest accomplishment? Peaking in highschool. I love to go and watch it all, there are times you can see Karma in action.
