A Fascination With Dolls

I imagine it just comes with the territory to a certain degree, but for as long as I can remember I've not just loved, but been captivated and fascinated with dolls.

I never cared much for baby dolls, but 'little people' of all sorts, especially porcelain figurines and lifelike dolls, are some of my favorites.

By that same token, I've always held a paranoid aversion toward 'evil' dolls in fiction. Of course, I know dolls aren't 'evil' in the real world, but I can't sit through any of the Chuckie movies despite my love of horror ;-)

I've been watching old episodes of the Nickelodeon TV show, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?". In season 3 there was an episode called "The Tale of the Doll Maker" in which a tween girl learns that her friend's disappeared, and later in the episode discovers that an antique doll house turned the girl into a porcelain doll.

I know it's been done before (though I can't off-hand recall a specific example) in TG fiction to turn a character into a doll/manniquin/whatnot, but the idea has absolutely captivated my imagination. I think I'm going to use it for a one-shot "adventure" in the next issue of Aria Blade.

I'll have to see what I can come up with and see if I can work it into the main plot (Sorry, no spoilers! ;-))

More to be thinking about anyway. I want to get to the big party in the Robin-verse because I'm really looking forward to people's reactions, but I don't want to rush it either, so maybe working with two very separate plot threads will spur the creative juices in both regards :-D

Love and hugs,
