brolen collar bone. (clavicle to those clever buggers.).
out on my bike this morning. approached pedestrian on the cycle trail at glyncorrwg.
he had dog on long lead.(small yorkie terrier) i rang my bell, dog reacted sensibly and stepped off the path. he appeared to get in a tangle with his sensible dog and had obviously failed to hear my bell. i rang bell again and now he must have heard me for he steps back before looking and nearly knocks me off. fortunately i was already travelling slowly but in swerving to avoid him i hit a rut and over i went.
turns out the poor guy has down's syndrome and hearing difficulties. (saw the thing in his ear' just before I was about to call him up in holes.)
score --- one broken collar bone (bike okay though.) and off to bridgend A&E. Now have a very sore shoulder and my arm in sling and feeling frustrated. I had a friday night at wild passions all organised. had to cancel and let my friend down cos i was providing the transport.
out of action for approximately six weeks dammit!!!!!

I'm quite sorry that happened to you ... taken a few spills myself. I do hope that you are feeling better very soon.
Last year a broke my pinky finger in a most embarrassing way; the bike stopped while I was trying to get into my new peddle clippies, and the stupid thing just fell over. Couldn't possibly been my fault.

Cycle tracks ...
... are best avoided where possible or at least treated with great caution. Especially those popular with people taking their dogs for a 'walk' (spelt S-H-I-T). And those long dog leads are a real PITA - invariably the owner stands on one side and the dog on the other, creating a perfect trip wire for the unwary cyclist.
Hope you collar bone heals OK, Beverley and that it's neither too painful nor too disabling ... and you're not a wazzok. If that's because you've fallen off your bike then that applies not only to me and my wife but to most of our friends. My wife's collar bone is a very peculiar shape after she got fetched off by a cat when she was on her way home from work but it hasn't stopped her cycling; she still manages the odd 100 mile ride even at 69. Glad your bike's OK and get well soon.

trust pedestrians out with animals at any time. They tend to do crazy things, just like people with cars, because they don't know what is going on around them, nor how you are going to react, nor reaction times. It's a shame you were hurt, but it could have been worse, I guess. Hope you heal without a lot of pain, and it heals okay. Sorry you had to miss on a good time.

Those pedestrians are a right pain! Suffered from them also, though fortunately without injury.
Had problem with one, listening to his music, while walking his dog. So he didn't hear my bell and just stepped in front of me, so did a quick dodge and thumped his shoulder in passing. Same bloke did it again a week later!

Hope it heals soon. Knew I'd heard of Gyncorrwg from my student days in Swansea - the end of the world as far as South Wales Transport were concerned - and it's about as far from A+E as you can get in south Wales.

Yep! Nothing's changed, except the scenery. I's now spectacularly beautiful and very slowly becoming gentrified. Brilliant and beautiful cycle trails though, plus of course the mountain biking centre.
Desperate to get back on my bike.
