It's A Wonderful Town!

Annie
Come on, Honey, hurry up!

Just a few hours!

Cabbie
Hey, why don't ya look where you're goin'.
You'd think it was your first time in New York!

Andrea
Wish it was!

(The DiMaggio's look around them, happily absorbing the scene.)

Annie and Andrea
New York, New York!
It's a wonderful town!

Annie
We've got one day here and not another minute
Can't take in the famous sights!

Andrea
We'll find the romance and danger waiting in it
emotional lows and heights;
and we've no time to enjoy them!
So what we'll miss are the nights
Sights! Heights! Nights!

Both
New York, New York, a wonderful town.
Our spirits' are up tho' our health is down.
Our doctors' practices are of great renown!
New York, New York, it's our medical town!

Annie
(points to Empire State Building)
Hey, honey, honey, look.

(consulting map quest with reverence and excitement)

Sweetie....it says here that we should be on East 72nd.

Andrea
Oopsies, Here we go again!

Annie
The famous practices to visit are so many,
Or so my insurance might say.
I promised myself I wouldn't miss on any.
Since we have just one day.
Got to see the whole town
From Yonkers on down to the Bay.

Both
In just one day!

New York, New York, a patient's place,
We feel like we're stuck in a race,
Hardly able to keep up the pace.
New York, New York, it's a patient's place!

Receptionist
Hey! Look who's comin' back! It's Andrea and Annie!

Annie
Hey..can you tell us where there's an ATM?

Andrea
Wonderful - Been here three times and I don't remember a thing!

Annie
Awful! I remember everything!

Manhattan doctors are pretty learned,
Or so the brochures say;
There's just one thing that's important in Manhattan,
When you have just one day;
Gotta get there on time...

Andrea
Maybe 10 or 11...

Annie
We can't be late today!
On your way.

Both
In just one day!(sigh)

New York, New York, a medical town.
The tolls are up, can't go drivin' around.
It almost makes you wanna frown'.
New York, New York, it's a medical town!!

Once more into Manhattan, folks. Mrs. D for her follow-up for her Thyroiditis and me for an evaluation for stress-related Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. I'm tired and achy all the time. Mrs. D already has CFS and Fibro (as do five of her six sisters) and she's concerned about me. Her doctor is the foremost expert on CFS in the Tri-State area, so we're both in good hands. Of course the picture above is a fanciful representation of what I'd love if things were different.

On a lighter note, tomorrow is my one year anniversary at BCTS. I'd like to once again thank Erin for providing me with an opportunity to be myself here and to contribute my work. It has been an odd, interesting, and altogether blessed ride. I'm celebrating by going on my semi-annual metaphysical shopping trip. Hey, maybe I'll bump into a few of you while I'm there? Much Love, Andrea Lena DiMaggio

If Things Were Different

"Things" are different. If things were any more different I don't have any idea how I'd stand them.

If you can make it in NY, you can. . . .
