Welcome to the third volume of my now semi-weekly blog of Princess For Hire User Recommendations!

In a recent comment on the story, one "PB" recommended that I should consider doing profiles of each of the Princesses so that readers have a better grasp on what each one's motivations and feelings are concerning the program.

Is this something that other readers would be interested in seeing? And if so, what characters would you like to see the most?

Are you curious about what Amos/Amanda's favorite nail polish color is?

Is Kirk/Kylie a closet comic book geek?

Does Charles really have seven toes on his left foot?

Let me know who you wanna know, and I'll let you know what I know.

Just so ya know. :P

Also, I'm still interested in seeing pictures of what readers think the various Princesses look like. I tend not to give super detailed descriptions so that readers can make the characters who they want them to be without too much trouble, but if someone makes a recommendation I particularly like I might add that to that character's profile as a somewhat-official portrait.

Well? Hop to it!

To be honest

I rather like the idea of using my imagination. I can get some idea of a character's likes and dislikes from the way that they are portrayed in the story. As for what they look like, I'd rather that be left to my imagination than for someone to show me a picture and impose their view.

Perhaps that's why I usually prefer radio to television. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

Wait...Charles has seven toes on his left foot?!?

Jemima Tychonaut's picture

Wait...Charles has seven toes on his left foot?!? I thought the premise of an all boys school with a sanctioned programme of princess cross dressing sounded perfectly reasonable but the whole seven toes weirdness is just a stretch too far. It's just not plausible. ;)

More seriously, I kind of like the idea of discovering the characters through the medium of the story. I don't think for example that a bio of Sarah would make her any more of a rounded character to me than the scenes involving her in the last few parts.

Profiles

I'd say, don't do anything too detailed, but just a paragraph or two for each princess outlining how they came to be in the program, how they feel about it, how often they dress en femme on non-mandatory days and who their assigned protector is. Plus possibly one or two general likes / dislikes per princess.

But here's one idea - being a secondary level school, a complete floor plan would evidently be impractical to draw. But perhaps an outline building plan, showing which departments are where, and a few significant other areas e.g. cafeteria, princess suites etc. may be useful.

Yes and no

Maybe as a summary, yes. I still like the traditional way of weaving their physical characteristics into the story as part of and parcel of the physical aspect maybe causing difficulties and/or benefits to them being Princesses, boys, transgendered - what have you.

It doesn't have to be super detailed..

When I posted the comment, I was thinking more of a lite rundown on who-was-who (their male/female names) and just as importantly, what year or level each person was in. Anything added by way of a brief description was a bonus. This way we'd have an idea of not only how many Princesses there are for the current school year, but how many Princesses represent each year. The caffeteria scene with all the Princesses in attendance left the impression there were a few more that had been mentioned, either by name or in terms of numbers.

If you decide to add details of each one, maybe keep their physical appearences vague (as a few have already suggested), but throw in some backgtound detail - like if they have the same 'problem' as Beck ... appearing more of less the same, whether presenting as their male selves or not.
