Any bored editors out there?

I'm tossing in the towel, I'm waving the white flag, in short, I surrender.

I've posted a couple of stories here so far and since they've been rather short, I've managed to do the editing myself. However, the latest story I have been working on has decided that it doesn't want to be another short story, it wants to be a big girl. The end result has been for it to reach 60K+ words to date and there is no sign of it stopping.

I'd like to start submitting it as a serial and think that the first part is stable enough to do so. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I recognize that I'm not the greatest writer and it's going to need a bit of work to whip it into shape.

So, if there are any editors out there who think they'd like to help take a crack at this, please let me know.

I can be reached either thru my BC inbox or you can write me at [email protected].

Thanks so much.

Connie

If all else fails send an SOS out to

the Guild of Evil Blonde Proofreaders.

I believe several of them are still active here at BC.

Wow

Wow,

The response from this group has been overwhelming. Thanks to everyone who volunteered.

This really is a great community we have here. Hopefully you'll see my latest endeavor posted soon.

With love,
Connie

Suggestion...

Send the first half dozen pages to each of those that volunteered, and ask them to do a "sample" edit for you. (Tell them you're doing it, but not who the others are). Most editors should be willing to do a bit like this for you.

When you get the edits back, you get suggestions from each of them - which IS a good thing.

But, more important, you'll see the style each brings to Editing. Odds are, you'll find you can work with one, but may have problems with another. Go with the one(s) who's editing style you're most comfortable with - at least at start. You'll find the process easier. I've had my things edited by several people here, and no two were the same!

Best of Luck,
Anne
